Academic Advising is the place to go when you don’t know where to go on your College road to success! They
are there for both academic and career advising based off of your
wants, needs, and personality. Offering assistance with academic
obstacles, advice, career resources, personality tests, classes, teachers, scholarships, transferring, and in
general where to go next. Check in with your advisors today!
ACADEMIC & CAREER ADVISING
The disability resource center is a safe haven for
those with both physical and mental challenges. They
offer a multitude of resources to assist those
who need it. Covering everything from the hard of hearing to Attention Deficit Disorder and providing you
with equipment and advantages to make College
a bit less difficult.
DISABILITY RESOURCE CENTER
Financial Aid offers assistance with Pell Grants, scholarships,
loans, and work study in addition too financial aid to
international students. You can apply to such things through
FAFSA or look into the scholarships in which SLCC
offers at www.slcc.edu/financialaid/slcc-scholarships-and-tuition-waivers.aspx
The financial aid on the Taylorsville Campus is located in the Student Center building
on the second floor.
FINANCIAL AID
The enrollment services are there to assist students with
enrollment, registration issues, transcripts, and
more. Claims and requests can take 2-4 weeks for in
state students and can take 4-6 weeks for out of state students. They on average process 8,000 + claims a year. However they only
have 2 evaluators.
ENROLLMENT SERVICES
Salt Lake Community College offers 60 + clubs. Everything
from multicultural, sports, debate, chess, etc. Meaning
majority of students should be able to find a club in which they have interest in. You can start a
club going through www.orgsync.com it requires a minimum of five students and
one faculty member. Some clubs to have GPA requirements as
well as fees associated. Please keep this in mind when
searching for a club for you!
STUDENT ACTIVITIES & CLUBS
The Thayne Center is a way for students to actively get involved in their community. It assists students in volunteering. This is something recommended to all. Volunteering
offers students a sense of satisfaction, helps them gain
confidence, helps improve people skills, and improves experience.
When volunteering be sure to document when and where. The
SLICE group is associated with the Thayne center and addresses issue
monthly. Last month it was domestic violence, this month it is hunger. To

THAYNE CENTER FOR SERVICE & LEARNING
This Center offers several beneficial services such as
the following: massages, STI testing, Immunizations,
birth control, thyroid testing, physicals, vaccines,
pregnancy testing, counseling, alcohol
education, nutrition, physical activity, sleep health, safe sex, stress management, quitting
smoking, and more. All of which at a extremely discounted cost verse
community costs.
HEALTH & WELLNESS SERVICES
They help provide you with tools to the success of your
future career. Assisting with things such as resume building, cover letters, and mock interviews. They also have the capability to assist you in finding internships.
There are ways you can earn credit towards your college degree through
working, find out how by contacting them directly at

STUDENT EMPLOYMENT
The student life and leadership center offers you a chance to be
a voice among your peers. Offering services such as the
Student Senate, Clubs &Organizations, Fine Arts & Lectures Board, Publicity &
Advertising Board, North Region Board, South Region Board,
Taylorsville Activities Board, and the Presidents Board. To get
involved they are holding interviews November 22, 2013.

STUDENT LIFE & LEADERSHIP
Having trouble with writing your paper? Not to worry
SLCC’s writing center is the place for you. They offer assistance in writing and finalizing drafts of papers.
Please try to bring in a copy of the actual assignment and its requirements when you arrive
to your scheduled appointment. You make an appointment
online with your student ID number at www.slccswc.org and
keep in mind it is free of charge.
WRITING CENTER
The SLCC library is not only a great resource for students, it is also a great resource for the community.
Students one card will act as a library card, however if you are not a student you can purchase a year subscription to the library for the
price of $20.00. You are capable of checking out up to 10 items at a
time. They do offer classroom text books to be checked out for four
hour increments and you are required to stay in the library
during this time. You can rent a book up to 28 days. In addition they
provide a computer lab.
LIBRARY
The learning center is there to provide students with assistance in their classroom needs. Drop in tutoring is available for math and science. You are also able to get
tutoring by appointment. In addition they offer campus final
exam reviews. Further more they offer online assistance for those who don’t have the time to come
in. So if you are having difficulties with your studies, this
is the place to go to get the assistance needed to obtain
academic success.
