Why are we learning about coins?
• Money is important all over the world!• Every country uses money everyday!• Money is used for many of the things we do
everyday. Can you think of any?
U.S. Coins
• Each coin has a name.• We use four main coins in our country.• They are different sizes and have different
values.• Let’s take a look at them one by one!
The Penny• The Penny is a very common coin.• We often see them on the ground and pick
them up for good luck!• Compared to the other coins it is a little
different. It is made out of copper, which stands out!
The Nickel
• The Nickel is silver in color like to of the other coins.
• It is larger than the penny and has smooth edges.
The Dime
• The Dime is smaller than the nickel, but is worth more!
• It is silver in color, and has ridges around the edges.
The Quarter• The Quarter is larger than all of the other
coins.• It is silver and has small ridges along the edge
like the nickel.• It is worth more than all of the other coins we
have talked about!
