Who Should Attend?A practical training workshop for users of coordinate measurement machines (CMMs) including:
• CMM Operators
• CMM programmers
• Managers of CMM users
• Metrology Managers
Learning Outcomes• Provide an understanding of the seven published parts
and five draft parts of ISO 10360 and how they relate to both traditional CMMs and alternative co-ordinate measurement systems.
• Know how a CMM is specified. Be able to carry out the test, analyse the data and calculate the test uncertainty.
• Understand the limitations of an ISO 10360 test. Be able to interpret the test data and be aware of the conclusions that can, and can’t be drawn from it.
• Understand the single stylus probing test and understand how it is carried out.
• Be able to analyse the data from a single stylus probing test, understand how the test uncertainty is calculated and understand how ISO 14253 decision rules apply to the tests.
Employer Return on Investment• Compliance with ISO 10360.
• A visible return on investment for manufacturing organisations in the form of various production cost savings and a more skilled workforce.
• A reduction in re-work time and waste on the production line - faults and problems will be detected earlier in the production process.
• Increased productivity in production environments through reducing scrap and rework and by improving throughput.
• Reduced need for out-sourcing of measurement-type activities thus reducing costs.
Module DetailsIntroduction to ISO 10360Understand the role of the technical committee responsible for the standard. Gain an overall appreciation of the GPS series of standards. Learn the terminology and symbols used (ISO 10360-1).
Application of ISO 10360 Part 2:2009 CMMs used formeasuring sizeBe able to carry out the test and different realisations of test lengths. Be able to analyse the data from an ISO 10360-2 test. Interpreting the data – be aware of the conclusions that can, and can’t be drawn from the data. Understand the limitations of an ISO 10360 test. Understand the importance of interim checks and day to day checking. Be able to calculate the test uncertainty.
Single Stylus Probing TestUnderstand the single stylus probing test and the difference between a reference and test sphere. Understand how the single stylus probing test and be able to analyse the data from the test.
Test uncertaintyUnderstand how the test uncertainty is calculated and how ISO 14253 decision rules apply to the tests.
Laboratory demonstrations relating to ISO 10360-2Be aware of the practical considerations when carrying out the test.
