Methodology and Biostatistics (concept learning with

examples) (2) A research project (applying the

concepts on original & real data)

Execution of the course: Lectures and discussion Research supervision ( a group of 10 students will have one faculty member)

1 hour in a week Tuesday 1 - 2 pm ( Group A) Monday 1 - 2 pm (Group B) Teaching sessions starts from this week

and ends in the middle of 2nd semester.

(7 to 8 months duration)

Topics of teaching sessions ( 24 sessions)

A brief Introduction to research methodology Literature Review Literature Search Protocol writing Sampling techniques ( 2 sessions) Questionnaire Design ( 2 sessions) Overview of all study designs Computer’ data collection for and entering data Introduction to biostatistics and levels of measurement Graphical representation data Analyzing the data (descriptive statistics) ( 2 sessions) Normal distribution and its application Sampling distribution of means & proportions Test of significance Statistical inference (interpretation of p-value) Statistical test for analyzing data ( 2 sessions) Statistical interference ( 95% confidence intervals) ( 2 sessions) How to use SPSS software ? How to write a research paper ?

Research Project :Submit the list of groups ( each

group is of 10 students) to the course coordinator.

A Faculty member will be allotted to each group as a research supervisor.

A series of small group discussions with your research supervisor and your efforts will makes you to complete your research project.
