The figures reported are compositional and based on African American expulsion rates, not ratios of risk or relative risk.
Without more details, it is hard to verify the accuracy of the numbers reported.
For our project, the data are valid for its intended purpose.
The displays we produced are similar to, but not identical to, what would emerge if we used risk ratios and/or relative risk ratios.
Nonetheless, the displays we produced are "directionally correct" and serve to spark helpful discussion about a problem.
The reported data represents both mandatory and discretionary expulsions.
Once Dr. Reschly’s school-by-school analysis is complete, we will
rely on his school-by-school findings (using risk and relative risk
ratios).
