Our annual Thanksgiving tradition continues
as St. Philips 7th graders lead a food drive to provide Thanksgiving dinners for the less
fortunate.
The theme this year is “Giving Thanks by Taking Action” because we want to give thanks to God
by giving back to those in need. We are asking students from each class to participate by
donating the food items requested on the following list:
Kindergarten: POTATOES – INSTANT POTATOES
Perishable- fresh potatoes, please turn in Thursday November 19th
First Grade : STUFFING
Second Grade : BROTH (Turkey/Chicken-Low Sodium), AND GRAVY
Third Grade : CANNED CRANBERRY SAUCE
Fourth Grade : CANNED CORN
Fifth Grade : CANNED GREEN BEANS
Sixth Grade : CAKE MIX/ CORN BREAD MIX
Seventh Grade : ROLLS (perishable - please turn in Monday, November 19th )

Turkeys will be donated by parishioners and the teachers of St. Philip.
Collection bins will be in each classroom starting November 2nd through November 20th. Our
goal is to serve over 40 families this year.

OPERATION SOLDIER 2015 Please help the 4th grade make their Christian Service Project a great success this year by donating care package items for our American soldiers deployed overseas. All care packages will be mailed to reach our soldiers in time for Christmas.
WHEN: November 2nd – November 18th WHERE: Collection bins will be located in each classroom, the school lobby, and the church office.

“Keeping Your Kids Cyber Safe”
A Free Presentation for Parents and Caregivers
Tracy Webb is the Counsel for Child Abuse Policy and Cyber Crime Prosecution in the Los Angeles City
Attorney’s Office. She is a career prosecutor who has spent the majority of her career prosecuting family violence and child abuse cases including physical, sexual, exploitation and technologically facilitated
crimes.
Tracy is currently an active member of the Federal Internet Crimes against Children (ICAC) Task Force
and co-chair of the Los Angeles County Cyber Crime Task Force. She is a frequent speaker locally and nationally in the area of technology facilitated crimes, child abuse and exploitation. Tracy is also an
Emmy-award winning producer of a documentary film on gang violence. She has produced numerous films and Public Service Announcements on child abuse and cyber-crime that are currently airing on
various television stations. In addition, Tracy completed a documentary short on the state of child
welfare in Los Angeles County.
Prior to working for the City of Los Angeles, Tracy was the Chief Prosecutor for the City of Pasadena for eight years. In this capacity, Tracy was responsible for supervising a staff of attorneys and support staff
who handled the criminal offenses within the city limits of Pasadena as well as running a gang and code
enforcement task force and handling a wide variety of criminal prosecutions including domestic violence, elder abuse, child abuse and gang violence cases.
For the past 31 years, Tracy has dedicated her career to prosecuting criminals, supporting children and
participating in community efforts to further the support and safety of children, youth and families.

6th ANNUAL CHRISTMAS TREE SALE Dear St Philip the Apostle School Families, My name is Kelly Young. I am a Parishioner (21 years) past parent of the school (17 years) and the Director of High School Youth Ministry for St Philip the Apostle Church (7 years). Our 6th Annual Christmas Tree Sale is underway. Profits raised help send teens in our program on our mandatory Confirmation retreats whose families are financially unable to afford the registration fee. Some facts about our Christmas Tree Sale:
� We have a 98% satisfaction rating with everyone that has purchased a tree over the years.
� These trees are comparable in cost to those from local lots.
� Trees are cut just 3 days before they arrive here
� If kept watered, they will stay nicely through New Years.
� If you are not satisfied with your tree within a week of pick-up, you can return it for a full refund
This is an item that most would purchase. Please consider helping our Youth Ministry in the process.
