THE STUDY:The City of Brantford is conducting a Municipal ClassEnvironmental Assessment (EA) Schedule ‘C’ for asection of Colborne Street. The study area encompassesapproximately 1200 metres along Colborne Streetbetween Linden Avenue and Johnson Road andincludes the embankment extending to the Grand River.Ecosystem Recovery Inc. has been retained by the City ofBrantford to complete the study.The study is intended to identify and evaluate alternatives,as well as to develop concepts to improve, manage ormitigate slope stability concerns in the study area. Thefindings of this project may also result in amendments tothe GRCA’s regulated area mapping of Ontario Regulation150/06 made under the Conservation Authorities Act. Aswell, any new mapping to identify the extent of the naturalhazard area may also be reflected in the new Official Planfor the City of Brantford as well as future updates to theZoning By-law.

THE PROCESSThe study is being conducted in compliance with Schedule‘C’ requirements of the Municipal Engineers Association“Municipal Class Environmental Assessment,” (2011) asapproved under the Ontario Environmental AssessmentAct. A key component of the study is consultationwith interested stakeholders (public, landowners andagencies). The first Public Information Centre (PIC) washeld on September 13, 2018 and provided an overview ofthe EA process and background information. A second PICwill be held to present the evaluation of the alternativesand discuss the preferred solution, as follows:

A third PIC will be held prior to the release of theEnvironmental Study Report (ESR), and will present theselected alternative solution to the public. The ESR will beprepared upon completion of the study and posted forpublic review and comment. The document will detail theplanning process and provide the preferred alternative. ANotice of Completion will be issued at that stage.

PUBLIC COMMENT INVITEDWe are interested in hearing any comments or concernsthat you may have about this study. Comments andinformation regarding the study are being collected toassist the City of Brantford in meeting the requirements ofthe Environmental Assessment Act. This material will bemaintained on file for use during the project and may beincluded in project documentation. With the exception ofpersonal information, all comments will become part ofthe public record.If you have any comments or questions regarding thisstudy, please contact either of the following:
