• Alcohol is a depressant, narcotic drug and not a stimulant. • Alcohol has very limited food value and contributes

approximately 7 calories per gram. • Alcohol inhibits the body’s ability to use vitamins and calcium. • The amount of alcohol in one drink is the same for: 12 ounces

of beer 5 ounces of wine, 1.5 ounces of distilled liquor
