Call to Order – President Ted Gonsiorowski called the meeting to order and led in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Invodation – David Hunter: Dear Lord, same as last week. Amen. Vittles - Swiss steak, Fire roasted potatoes, vegetables, rolls & butter, Custard pie.

Jay Hoeflinger brought his wife Donna as his guest today.

I like Dave’s sweet smile

Lion's Report - Pat Bryan: Bob Sprague has gone into a nursing home in Springfield. His wife, Bonnie, is in the Champaign Rehab Center.

Lottery winner today was Ted Gonsiorowski ($8).

Literacy project: there is an opportunity to read to children in Unit 4. We're trying to find out more information about it.

We're still looking for help for Herb Bail with eyeglass collections and the Sight and Sound Sweepstakes needs a chairman.

Lottery calendars are still available from Omer Benn for $10.

Bob Tuchel told us about an obituary that he just happened to read that mentioned Charlie Rudd, who he knew during WWII. Bob happened to be in a B-24 flying behind Charlie Rudd's when Charlie’s was destroyed by a German fighter. Obviously, the obituary brought back a lot of old memories.

Jay Hoeflinger introduced our speaker, Rob Kanter, author of The Environmental Almanac, which can be heard weekly on WILL and read in the News-Gazette on Sundays.

His topic was "Enjoying the natural world everyday."

Rob showed us photos of unusual birds,

the oldest tree in Champaign County, a Burr oak,

butterflies,

a bat that migrated,

a screech owl,

hawks,

one tagged,

one eating a squirrel,

one just curious,

a mallard family with dad leading the way.

and baby bringing up the rear,

a mourning dove,

a cicada,

Yellow legged something or others,

a Grebe.

a Sandpiper,

turtles,

Herons (no Dammen),

a bullfrog,

a White-faced Ibis

Snipes,

a Ground squirrel,

and an Assassin bug. Their bite is painful,

All of which he took himself, on his way to and from work, around campus, or in the immediate area. He urged us to keep our eyes open, because there is much of natural interest living close around us.

Tail Twister - Omer Benn asked Paul Hendren to carry the bucket.

President Ted was fined for having won the lottery. Marvin Paulsen was fined for his trip to Hawaii (we thought he should have demonstrated some dancing in a grass skirt),

Pedro Heller was fined for his daughter's having graduated from law school and clerking for a federal judge (bragging).

David Hunter , our beloved Publisher, was fined for his short prayer. BIG mistake!
