Dear parents and friends,
I would like to wish all our mums, grandmothers, aunties and carers in the
Cavendish community a very happy Mothers’ Day for this Sunday. I hope
the children will spoil you and show their appreciation for all the amazing
things you do. The children at Cavendish are very lucky to have some
wonderful mothers in their lives. Thank you to Mrs Bell and the teachers
who made some special items to help spoil our mothers this Sunday.
(Crossing my fingers that they can all keep the secret until Sunday
morning!)
This week we welcomed Ms Amy Billiet to our school, she
is a Pre-service teacher from Victoria University. Amy is
also a qualified Early Childhood teacher and some of you
may remember her from her time at the Kinder last year.
She currently training to become a Primary School
teacher. Ms Billiet will be at school for one day a week
and then for a two week block later in the term.
On Wednesday the school was a buzz of activity for our
Education Week—Open Day. It was so nice to see all the
smiling family members, friends and new faces at school.
The children love this day and look forward to it every year. We are so glad
that Covid didn’t stop it going ahead this year!! We hope you all enjoyed
your morning at school and the morning tea provided. There are some
lovely photos attached to the newsletter.
Our Year 3 and 5 students will be involved in their NAPLAN testing next
week. The four tests are on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings.
The year 3 and 5s will stay with their class teachers for their tests and the
Year 4 and 6s will have practise questions at the same time. This will be
particularly helpful for our Year 4 students to prepare for their tests next
year in similar test conditions as they missed this experience last year.
Our Cross Country would have been run this afternoon down by the river.
Photos and results will be in next week’s newsletter.

We look forward to hearing about Jack and Ctayah’s efforts at
Warrnambool in next weeks newsletter. They are currently compet-
ing against the best of the districts athletes. They looked very pro-
fessional in their official singlets ready for the day. Good luck Jack
and Ctayah.
Next Friday, we will be sending off a group of athletes to Tarrington
to compete in the inter-school Cross country. So we will keeping
up the daily running to help our athletes prepare for this.
The painting is looking amazing and we can already see how it has
freshened up the undercover area we use for assemblies and play
times. The painters have been really considerate and have fitted
around our school timetable to complete the painting.
A note has been included in the newsletter about the catering at
the Mooralla Golf Day on Friday 14th May. The list is on the win-
dow at the school’s back entrance. There are a lot of items re-
quired and helpers on the day, so please help out where you can.
Have a lovely weekend and enjoy those special moments with your
Mums.
