The project, which Neo Environmental were commissioned to complete all of the environmental assess-
ments for, consists of one of the first consented solar farms in Scotland.
Neo Environmental’s involvement:
Neo Environmental provided assessments for this pioneering project, being commissioned due to our significant experience conducting assessments for solar developments in England. These assessments supplemented a planning application for Lark Energy with D & G Council and consisted of:
Ecological Appraisal
Cultural Heritage Impact Assessment
Design & Access Statement
Landscape & Visual Impact Assessment
Construction Traffic Management Plan
Agricultural Land Classification Assessment
Project Outcomes:
Solar farm approved for planning in December 2014.
Phase 1 Habitat Survey indicated limited potential to support a range of species, suggesting a habitat management plan to provide suitable habitat for existing species and encourage other local species to inhabit the site.
Potential impacts on Cultural Heritage were assessed as low to negligible.
The LVIA highlighted predicted effects of the solar farm ranging from negligible to moderate. Mitigation measures were also outlined to minimise the potential effects.
Lark Energy have commissioned Neo Environmental’s services for other similar solar farm devel-opments.
