Introduction

Intellectual property rights are rights granted for creations of the mind. 

Intellectual property rights are exclusive rights granted to individuals or organizations for intangible assets such as, artistic works, inventions, symbols, words, phrases and designs.

Intellectual property is a subset of intellectual assets that are legally protected.

Patents, Trademarks and copyrights are the three major intellectual property.

Who are Patent Agents

• In India, a person registered to practice before Indian Patent Office is called a "Registered Patent Agent" or simply "Patent agent". 

• Indian Patent Office conducts a qualifying examination for patent agent registration yearly

Eligibility For writing the exam

•  an Indian Citizen

•  21 years of age

• Must be a science Graduate

Or• Engineering Graduate

What Do Patent Agents Do?

• Partner with engineers, project managers and the Chief - - Technology Officers to create, identify, document and evaluate ideas for new patent applications to protect company assets

• Lead the invention disclosure process by guiding employees, drafting claims, developing applications that protect current and future products in support of outside counsel

• Conduct patentability analysis, perform prior art searches, conduct state of the art patent searches and assist engineers to research the patent landscape and product development.

Patent Agent Exam• Conducted by Ministry of Commerce and

Industry (Govt. of India)• Paper I – Patent Act and Rules• Paper II- Drafting and interpretation of

Patent specification and other documents

• Viva Voce• Should get minimum 50 in all three papers

and total should be180 and above

• Class Room training at New Delhi,• In New Delhi we are conducting 30 hours

Class Room Training, Regular batch and Week End batch.

• Class Room training at Bangalore.• 30 hours Class Room Training, Regular

batch only.

• Class Room training at Chennai, Hyderabad.

• Local Class Room Training shall be conducted at Chennai/ Hyderabad, if sufficient candidates are enrolled from the above centers.

• Class Room training at Mumbai, Pune & Kolkata.

• Local Class Room Training shall be conducted at Mumbai/Pune and Kolkata,

• if sufficient candidates are enrolled from the above centers.
