Cardiologists warn of iPhone 12 usage forpeople with defibrillators or pacemakers

Relief bill includes aid forMINOT, N.D. - U.S.lawmak-

ers passed what they are callingthe largest investment in Nativeprograms in history.

The $31.2 billion investmentis part of the 1.9 trillion-dollarCorona virus Relief Bill passedby the U.S. House Wednesday.

Of that $31.2 billion, $20 bil-lion will go towards tribal gov-ernments across the country tohelp stabilize safety net pro-

grams and stimulate economicrecovery.

And $6 billion will go towardshealth systems in Indigenouscommunities to cover the costsof needs like COVID vaccinesand tests.

MHA Chairman Mark Foxsaid he is pleased the bill ispassed, and now it's all aboutmaking sure it is distributed tocommunities accurately and

timely."It's the largest ever single ap-

propriation it's just how is thisdisseminated out how are weable to use it is really where theproof will be in the pudding,"said Chairman Fox.

President Joe Biden signed thebill into law Thursday.

Chairman Fox said Tribal gov-ernments may need to apply toget a portion of the aid.

Cardiologists are saying thenew iPhone 12 and the chargercan be dangerous for some pa-tients.

Heart Rhythm Society is say-ing people who have defibrilla-tors or pacemakers should takeprecautions when using the newtechnology.

The new latest phone and thewireless charger have magneticrings to connect.

But CHI St. Alexius'Interventional Cardiologist saysthe magnet switches the tool intosafety mode."If they have a defibrillator, if

it's not checked by a rep or byan electric physiologist or cardi-ologist who's fluent in pacemak-ers, their defibrillator will stayturned off. So if they go into afatal arrhythmia they will not re-ceive the benefit of that life-sav-ing therapy," said MichaelFIisak.

Dr. Flisak says the best option
