Teaching approach: Communicative approach.

Integration of skills: listening while watching a movie, writing when completing the Fantastic You worksheet, reading with the arranging of events in chronological order.

Materials and resources: Pieces of chalk or the board, pictures of movie events, Fantastic you worksheet, Movie Fantastic Mr. Fox, computer, speakers, extension cord with multiple sockets, masking tape and glue.

Pedagogical use of ICT in class or at home: Video Fantastic Mr. Fox

Seating arrangement: two separate groups at first (no particular seating arrangement), then all gathered around the computer for the movie.

Possible problems / difficulties and their possible solutions during the class: Students frequently forget their coursebooks and textbooks, but this class these wont be necessary. For this kind of behavior, I will ask students to share their books, and if repeated, will write their names down on a list for consideration of the class teacher. Apart from this, no other recurrent issue for this class was observable.

Classroom management strategies: As lessons start early, the first activity is to be something active to wake students up. If students are disruptive, I will walk and stand next to them: if persistent I will call their attention.

Potential problems students may have with the language: This lesson and the following of this practicum are revision of the last topics seen in class. Students are not expected to have any difficulties with the topics.

Assessment: what will be assessed and how. Listening comprehension of the movie will be assessed with the organization of events of activity one.

Warm up (5)Purpose: to (re) introduce myself I will greet students and ask them how are they. I will ask them if they have plans for the weekend, and establish a brief exchange with them.

Presentation (5)I will tell them that today we are going to finish the movie Fantastic Mr. Fox but that first we are going to revise what we know until now. I will ask them to make two groups.

Activity 1 (15)Purpose: To revise the early events of the movie.I will bring the following prints. Words in grey will be missing and printed in separate slips of paper. Despite here they appear in order, students will receive mixed sets.

Do the group know the meaning of dig?

I will explain the activity Each group will have a picture with an event from the movie: all pictures narrate the movie from the start up to what we watched last class. Below the picture, there is a description, but it the description is incomplete. So you will have to read it, and one person in each group go to the back of the classroom and find the word that is missing I will ask one student to explain again what the activity is like.I will tell students Did you bring the character sheet we were completing last class? And I will take out a copy of it:

You can use it to help you complete the activity.

While they are working, I will quickly write numbers 1 to 7 horizontally on the board. As soon as the first group finishes, I will give them masking tape and say Very good! Lets put them in order The second group might need to rearrange the pictures of the first group, and in that case, I will ask them to cooperate.

Very good! Now we have our story in order

Transition Ok, now, bring a chair and come closer we are going to finish the movie. Before starting the movie, I will ask them to answer the question on the last picture: What will happen when the farmers realize what happened?

Activity 2 (40)Purpose: To watch most of the movie.Fantastic Mr. Fox (87 min total)As actors speak fast for this language level, I will play the movie with English subtitles.Movie starts at 44:26; credits start at 1:22:24 (38 min left aprox)

Activity 3 (10)Purpose: To write about themselves, inspired by the movie.Once the students have finished the movie, I will ask them what they think the movie was about, whether they liked it or not, and if they thought the ending would be different.I will then ask them what they have wrote for each character, and I will bring my own suggestions.

Assuming we are still on schedule, I will then distribute this worksheet.

I will read Mrs. Foxs phrase and ask students what they think about it. Why different is good? (Because we have different opinion, because we can learn different things, because everything the same is boring..) I will then read the directions on the worksheet and have students brainstorm about things that can be written. I would give examples, as I am fantastic because I can speak another language, I can make friends all over the world, I can understand song lyrics and use Internet more efficiently Students will have five minutes to write, and hand it over (even if unfinished)

Closure (5)If we are tight on schedule, then I will ask students what they think the movie was about at this point, whether they liked it or not, and if they thought the ending would be different.I will wish students a good weekend and say farewell until next week.

Homework: Students will be asked to read Chapter 8 of the Huck Finn book for next class, and bring the activities owed to Andrea.REMIND STUDENTS TO BRING THE BOOK THE ADVENTURES OF HUCKLEBERRY FINN FOR NEXT CLASS!!!

I will bring this print to leave on the classroom in case students want a pdf of the book.
