DOG TRAINING

• Teach how to train dogs in a more productive and rewarding way.

• Dog owner; recently got a lab puppy• Everyone has dogs in their lives in on way or

the other; weather you own one or yours friends do.

• Everyone needs to know how to act and treat dogs correctly

• Animal shelters

INTRO

There are many different aspects of dog training but the main points I would like to talk about today is

the importance of exercise, obedience training, and how

people should socialize with dogs and puppies. I would like to

educate people to keep dogs out of animal shelters and in happy

homes.

• Dogs are naturally meant to walk around and cover large distances.

• All dogs initially come from wolves.

• Wolves cover miles every day hunting for pray.

• Domesticated pet dogs still have the need to cover a lot of ground or get that energy out

EXERCISE

• If you were confined to a small area every day and had no real forms of entertainment you would get very restless.

• Dogs when put in a small area all day have to get rid of their energy for the entire day out while you are home with them.

• Dogs will behave much better if they are tired, as well as listen better to commands and training.

IF DOGS ARE IN A DOG RUN, CRATE OR PLAY PEN ALL DAY THEY WILL HAVE PENT UP

ENERGY THAT NEEDS TO GO SOMEWHERE

• Walking or running your dog is the most common

• Socializing your dog with other dogs; at the dog part

• Playing with your dog

• If that energy is not let out in a productive way it will be let out in a destructive way.

THERE ARE MANY DIFFERENT WAYS YOU

SHOULD EXERCISE YOUR DOG

Once you have exercised your dog physically; you also need to

do it mentally

The best time to train your dog is after they have been exercised.

• Sit/Down

• Hand Signal along with command words

• Using smelly treats

• Teaches your dog to listen to you, submissive state

OBEDIENCE

• Hand motion and command word

• Release word

• Teaches your dog patience

STAY

• You must be consistent on taking your dog outside.

• Recognize the signs of your dog needing to go.

• Do not get mad when they go inside, they won’t let you know if they are scared.

POTTY TRAINING

Obedience training isn’t where you stop, you also must

train your dog how to act around people, and people need to know how to act

around dogs

All 4 on the floor

• You must not reward a dog for jumping on you with attention

• Best thing to do is turn around and ignore the dog

• Once dog is sitting nicely than you may say hello.

SOCIALIZATION

• One way to teach a dog to come is to run away from him

• Dogs natural instinct is to chase

• If a dog is being aggressive the best thing to do is to slowly back away.

CHASING

• Do not use your hand as a toy. They will bite

• It is best not to play tug of war with a young puppy.

• You can play tug of war with an older dog, as well as fetch.

• Know your dogs limits

• Have fun!

PLAYING WITH A DOG VS PUPPY

• Exercise• Obedience• Socialization

If you put all three of these things into your dog’s life you will have a happy well rounded dog. When your dog is happy; you are happy. If more knew this information there would be

fewer frustrated owners getting rid of misbehaving dogs.
