HISTORY
ZAVKOM was founded in 1933 as a chemical machinery plant.The following milestones in the company’s history are noteworthy:
1933The first equipment for the chemical industry was manufactured: units for separating coke and distillers.
1946Large size apparatus from corrosion-resistant and heat-resistant steels were produced.
1948Distilling plants and heat-exchange equipment were first manufactured for the shipbuilding industry, including equipment for the nuclear-powered icebreaker Lenin.
1966By Decree of the Praesidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, for ensuring high growth rates in the production of complex chemical apparatus, the enterprise was awarded the Red Flag Order of Labour.
1970Technology was developed for the manufacture of equipment from bi- and tri-metal for especially aggressive products and research in nuclear physics.
1992The first EPC projects in biotechnology industry were implemented.
2000The production of installations for gas purification and treatment was mastered. The company developed active collaboration with Gazprom company.
2001The production of equipment for nuclear power stations was mastered. Equipment was designed, manufactured and delivered for the Kola Nuclear Power Station.
2007The company engaged in scientific research in production of innovative nanomaterials, investing its own funds in the venture.
2014The company was restructured and rebranded.

INTRODUCTION
In recent years there has been much discussion of the need to develop high-tech production and in-house expertise, and to create and promote new engineering solutions for international markets.
I am convinced that Russian future, its uniqueness and leading positions will be secured through de-veloping our own, powerful production base. I be-lieve that our country has significant potential in the development and creation of new technologies.
We should not forget, however, that creating anything totally new is a costly process. The creation of a new production facility and new technology from scratch, without relying on any historical experience and without an understanding of market trends, is often a matter of trial and error. That said, it is important to remember that in the creation of new facilities, the interests of the state and private investors actually coincide.
Since 1933 we have been engaged in the design and production of engineering equipment, and always put quality first. We tap into the colossal engineer-
ing experience of both in-house development, and accumulated by Soviet industry as a whole.
At the same time we do not rest on our laurels. Thanks to an active dialogue with clients and part-ners, the company is developing new lines of busi-ness, uncovering new sales markets, international markets included, is engaged in scientific research and experimental design work and is elaborating new technologies and engineering solutions. We are helped in this by a clear vision of market trends, an understanding of the needs of our clients, pro-duction and design discipline, and collaboration with leading Russian and international research in-stitutes and engineering companies.

Demand for high-level processing products rises every year, both on Russian and international markets. The steadiest growth in Russia belongs to lysine consump-tion, associated with the development of poultry and pig farming. Citric acid, modified starches, glucose and fructose syrups also show stable growth trends in consumption. On the international markets, consump-tion of biodegradable plastics based on lactic acid are enjoying active growth. According to adopted norms, car gasoline in the European Union and the USA should contain from 10-20% bioethanol by 2020.
One of the main advantages of deep processing of grains complexes is the ability to regulate the volumes of products made at different stages, which helps to adapt the production process to the current market re-quirements and to make the production process more economical.

LYSINE PRODUCTION
Having in-depth experience of the implementation of projects in the biotechnology industry, ZAVKOM offers turnkey construction of monochlorohydrate and lysine sulphate production enterprises.
Lysine is an irreplaceable amino acid that forms part of the composition of proteins; it is a vitally important element in the development of animals’ organisms, increasing the recovery properties of osseous tissue and promoting growth.
The use of lysine in feeding livestock increases the economic efficiency of farm businesses. This ami-no acid has a direct impact on the growth of young stock and the digestibility of feed, strengthening the level of immunity and raising resilience against the impact of viral infections.
The introduction of lysine to the diet in a sufficient quantity enhances the use of other amino acids in-side the animal’s body, which in turn helps them to manage without animal proteins, preserving the same growth indicators and making the use of plant-based feeds more economical. This also facil-itates a reduction in existing norms of protein diet, with no loss of productivity.
Lysine in an animal’s organism influences mineral turnover; it promotes the assimilation of calcium, phosphorous and iron and takes part in the trans-formation of carotin into retinol; it influences the haematogenic function of the bone marrow and the activity of ferments.

ETHANOL PRODUCTION
With 80 years of experience in the construction of ethanol production plants ZAVKOM has its own scientific, engineering and production base, which enables it to implement turnkey projects in mini-mal timeframes and at the best possible costs.
Ethyl alcohol is the result of the distillation of fer-mented, carbohydrate-containing products with their subsequent concentration and treatment of the distillate. Ethanol is a colourless, mobile, combustible liquid with a density of 806 kg/m3 at 0°С, with a boiling point of 78.3°С, when mixed with water in any ratio.

REPROCESSING DISTILLERS’ GRAINS
Distillers’ grains are the main waste product formed during alcohol production. ZAVKOM offers to existing distilleries the turnkey construction of distillers’ grain recycling facilities.
• Distillers’ grains are reprocessed to obtain DDGS, feed yeast or biogas:
• DDGS (dried distillers grains with solubles) may be used as high-quality animal feed.
• Feed yeast is used as a valuable protein additive in the production of combined feed, feed mixes and premixes for feeding all kinds of farm animals, poultry, fish and fur-producing animals.
• Biogas is used as a fuel for the production of electricity, heat or steam and also as an automotive fuel.
Advanced technologies that are used in the construc-tion of distillers’ grains reprocessing units ensure the high quality of the obtained dried distillers’ grains with solubles (DDGS) with low energy costs.

WATER TREATMENT UNITS
One of ZAVKOM lines of busi-ness is the design, manufac-ture and installation of state-of-the-art, high-efficiency systems for purification of nat-ural water based on the latest ion-exchange and membrane technologies, for:
• Liqueurs and spirits, beer brewing and other food enterprises.
• Production of specially purified and conditioned water for making drinks and food of the highest quality.
• Chemical, petrochemical, metallurgical and other industrial enterprises where deferrisation, softening and high-level demineralisaton of process water is required and circulating water supply systems need to be installed.
Installations may also be used for housing and utilities in the following fields:

• Heating and hot-water supply systems.
Depending on the quality of the source water, our R&D division will select the suitable technology to achieve the required productivity. It is also pos-sible to develop special purification systems, ac-counting for all the customer’s requirements.

BIOETHANOL PRODUCTION
There are two primary technology to obtain bioeth-anol: “dry” and “wet”. With the “wet” method, fibrin and starches A/B are additionally extracted; starch B is used for the production of bioethanol.
Bioethanol today is either mixed with automotive petrol to improve its quality or is used in pure form.
Bioethanol has an octane number of 105. Mixing it with automotive petrol helps to reduce the use of such octane booster substances as MTBE and mon-omethylaniline, which are harmful to the environ-ment and to human health.
INTERNATIONAL MARKETS HAVE DIFFERENT TYPES OF FUELS, IN THE PRODUCTION OF WHICH BIOETHANOL IS USED.
Fuels that do not require a change to engine design:
• Е-15: 85 % petrol / 15% bioethanol
• Е-10: 90 % petrol / 10% bioethanol
• Е-5: 95 % petrol / 5% bioethanol
Bioethanol is an environmentally clean type of fuel, and the most promising. This is a renewable energy source that helps to re-duce the level of carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere. ZAVKOM has more than 20 years of experience in the turnkey con-struction of this high-tech fuel. Bioethanol is an alcohol obtained from the processing of plant-based raw material to be used as a biofuel. Bioethanol is produced from starch-containing and sug-ar-containing farm crops.Starch-containing crops in-clude:

Fuels that require a change to engine design:

The most widespread fuel type in the USA and the European Union is E-10, which improves engine operation, prevents overheating, performs the func-tion of antifreeze for the fuel line and does not con-taminate the fuel nozzle.
According to EU directives, 10% of transport fuel must come from environmentally clean energy
sources by 2020. By 2022, according to the US En-ergy Independence and Security Act of 2007, the lo-cal production volume of bioethanol must reach 115 million tonnes a year.
It is also noteworthy that additional products of bioethanol production, such as DDGS, yeast and CO2, significantly enhance the economic efficiency of the entire enterprise.

ZAVKOM performs the turnkey construction of unique, innovative enterprises that produce en-zymes used in the farming business to enhance the effectiveness of feeding animals.
THE FOLLOWING ENZYMES CAN BE PRODUCED USING ZAVKOM TECHNOLOGY:

These additives increase the availability of phos-phorus, calcium, amino acids and microelements in plant-based feeds, enhance the energy nutrition of the feed, improve conversion and increase animals’ body mass growth and productivity. In addition, en-zymes reduce the discharge of useful substances with the droppings by up to 30%.
Polysaccharides, proteins and lipids of the feeds degrade in the digestive tract of animals under the impact of digestive ferments. A deficit of ferments reduces the assimilation of the feeds and, accord-ingly, the productivity of the animals. Rational use

of ferment preparations improves the physiologi-cal state of the animals and preserves headcount, making it easier to observe the health and hygiene norms that regulate the animals’ upkeep.
The process flow that we have elaborated enables us to obtain the highest quality enzyme preparations from cereal raw material that fully conform to the ever more stringent requirements of the modern grain-processing industry. In so doing, provision is made for a minimum level of raw material and energy consumption and a maximum output of end products without harmful waste that may contami-nate the environment.
In practice the high efficiency of introducing feed ad-ditives obtained using ferments made using ZAKOM technology into the diet of animals and birds has been revealed:
FEED ADDITIVE FOR POULTRY ENHANCES:
• Egg production by 13.3%
• Egg mass by 5.1%
• Egg shell thickness by 2.6%
With that, the cost of 1000 eggs drops by 6.8%.
FEED ADDITIVE FOR CATTLE:
• Enhances average daily body weight growth of young pigs on fattening by 10-15%
• Ensures preservation of headcount of new-born piglets up to 95%
As a whole, the cost of feed per unit of body weight growth of the pigs falls by 8.8%.

DOSES AND MEANS OF APPLICATION:Ferment preparations are introduced to combined feed using the method of multi-stage mixing. The norm for the introduction of preparations, depend-ing on the diet, stands at 0.2 to 0.4 kg per tonne of combined feed or feed mix, containing wheat, millet, triticale, unshelled oats, sunflower cake or oilcake.
PHYTASE (THE AGROPHYTE PREPARATION)Macro and microelements (calcium, magnesium, zinc, copper and others), proteins, amino acids and polysugars are bound by phytic acid. In natural con-ditions, all these nutrients are not digested in the gastrointestinal tract of pigs and poultry and tran-sit through them. Phytase acts on the phytic acid, breaking the ether bonds, due to which all earlier bound components become accessible for digestion and assimilation.
CELLULASE (THE AGROCELL PREPARATION)This ferment, which degrades cellulose into glucose, is comparatively infrequently encountered in nature. Without it, the cellulouse in the cell walls of plant-based tissues, along with lignine and hemicellulose, is simply not assimilated by the animals. Feed ad-ditives with Agrocell have a significant effect on im-proving the quality of the digestion of plant-based food.
XYLANASE (THE AGROXYL PREPARATION)This ferment breaks down the non-hydrolysable components of cereal raw materials: pentasanes (xylanes, arabanes, arabanomananes) and be-ta-glucans. Overall it improves the digestion of nu-trients. Because of the preparation, cheaper cereal raw materials can be used for the feed: unshelled oats, sunflower cake or oilcake and siftings. It has a positive impact on the production cost of combined feed products.The enzymes made using ZAVKOM technology are mixed well with other ingredients and compatible with all components of feeds and premixes.
