Beyond 2010 and Response to Redundancy

• a £7.2m skills programme funded by EEDA and the European Social Fund

• 250 business have been supported through this part of the programme since November

• includes a Response to Redundancy programme, which provides early support to individuals facing redundancy

• Over 2,300 individuals in nearly 225 companies have been supported since

November.

• RDAs have long argued for integration of services that support business

•To drive productivity, competitiveness & innovation business usually need a bundle of services, not a single service

•The public sector’s offer is delivered via the Business Link brand

• Unemployment at 5.7% is below the national average

• Businesses are increasing their expenditure on sales and marketing

• Positive attitude towards training

How does the Region look?

• 16% of Employers in England claim to have staff with skills deficiencies according to The National Employers Skills Survey 2005

• 3.5 million workers cannot read, 15 million have poor number skills

• Over 5 million people of working age in the UK have no qualification at all

• By 2012 two thirds of all jobs will require Level 3+

• Skills gaps cost employers £10 billion in lost revenue each year

Business Link Integrated Brokerage Service

Integrated Brokerage delivers a funded service to help businesses access the training they need to succeed.

A skills broker will:

• offer free, impartial advice

• deliver an organisational needs analysis

• match training needs with training providers

• ensure that the training is delivered to meet employer’s needs

Business Link Integrated Brokerage Service

Age 25+

• Full funding for First & additional NVQ’s at Level 2 or those with no NVQ who want to Jump to Level 3

• Partial funding for a first or additional Level 3 or an NVQ Level 4

Under 25’s

• Full funding for Levels 2, 3 & 4

• Skills for Life (Fully funded)

• ESOL (Partial funding)

* National Vocational Qualification

* Qualifications on the additional flexibilities list only

* English as a second language

Leadership and Management Funding

• Up to £1000 in Government funding

• £500 fully funded plus £500 in matched funding

• Organisations with between 5 to 249 employees

• Senior Management and Business Leaders

• Any course relevant to their L & M skills including mentoring and coaching

• Only one tranche of funding per company

• Delivered by TCHC Leadership and Management Specialist Adviser Team

• A service built to help people not currently employed

• Provides individuals with skills, confidence and motivation

• Matches people to employers

• Training to match the needs of employers and employees

• European Social Fund (ESF) funded

Integrated Brokerage Gateway• TCHC Gateway answers the inbound queries by telephone or email for Integrated Brokerage and all other TCHC projects

• TCHC prides itself on good customer service with quick turnaround for all enquiries. The department makes bookings for Skills Brokers and Advisers to go on face to face visits with employers as well as assisting and sourcing provision on the phone

• TCHC Gateway helps organise the process and procedures for the client with easy, step by step guides for staff & Partners to use

• Gateway is responsible for the efficient running of the data systems we use and setting protocols for them

• TCHC Gateway is an information point for all staff and external contacts

• R2R is part of the Beyond 2010 programme that provides support for training (approx. £3m allocated to R2R)

• Employees whose jobs are at risk and who live or whose workplace is located in the East of England

• Employees in both public and private sector organisations

•Employees in any size of company

The Innovation Advice and Guidance service will help business become more innovative, more competitive and more profitable.

IAG is available to all businesses in the region focusing on the medium to larger SMEs.

The IAG service will consist of an initial fully funded one day review.

Subsidised project support will be available to SMEs

The IAG service will be delivered by a team from PA Consulting in partnership with Oxford Innovation Ltd who have delivered similar support to business in other regions.

•Defined and Supported by the Design Council

•Designing Demand Generate is a support service helping businesses to make strategic design decisions, set up design management processes and run design projects.

•Examples of design projects include:

•developing and launching new or improved products or services

•overhauling or repositioning brand or graphic communications

•upgrading working or retail environments and carrying out research into trends and customer needs.

•The support is fully funded and consists of a Design Associate devoting two days for preparation and research, then if applicable a further three days face-to-face meetings to further develop a design brief.

•Companies best suited are those with a forward-thinking attitude, ambition to grow and willingness to invest senior management time to steer a design project.
