STRENGTHEN ETHICAL BUSINESS PRACTICES FOR SMEs
Objectives:
• Strengthen economic growth and cross-border trade
• Strengthen businesses following the highest ethical standards,
especially SMEs; significant research shows that unethical
behavior and corruption negatively impacts the success of
small businesses (profits, market access, employee turnover)
• Strengthen health systems and improve patient outcomes
• Strengthen innovation by boosting stakeholder trust and
incentivizing new investment in emerging technologies where
SMEs and startups serve a vital role

• Hundreds of senior leaders as trainees across nearly a dozen APEC events, utilizing a train-the-trainer approach

• 2018 launch of the APEC Virtual Compliance for SMEs Program
• 2018 launch of the APEC Virtual Distributors Compliance Portal
