Background to BN GOLD project

Bachelor of Nursing (Post Registration) designed for practicing Registered Nurses

Eight units Currently delivered in Singapore,

Malaysia, Hong Kong, provincial Papua New Guinea, Australia

GOLD funding to support development of on-line delivery & increase market share

Also an opportunity to update curriculum

The process

Curriculum development retreat, resulting in 2 new units and major revision of most others

Consultation with major partners Student forums where possible

Resistance to a fully on-line development

Planned ‘roll-out’ of GOLD units accelerated to increase attractiveness to nurses in SE Asia

The hitches

Staff workloads high Had to delay roll out of 1 other new unit

One key staff member working in Malaysia Most staff not proficient with WebCT Had to allow for students with no on-line

access to students with broadband Some tutorial staff lack training, others

more advanced than Monash Contractual arrangements with partners
