Story Analysis 78

director’s statementHumanness is disappearing, don’t you think so?Or didn’t you realize it because you are busying with your own stuff?

The most observable example is the relationship between neighbours. We can hardly find a neighbour who greets you other than “HI” and “BYE”.

I do really like the close relationship among neighbours in the past. That is why I made this animation.Hope you all enjoy it.

1

story conceptI am now staying at my grandmother’s home.In contrast to my home, I can feel the unbreakable relationship between my grandmother’s neighbours. They always visit others home to have gatherings, sharing of their new “invention”,even if they are living in the same building.

That is how I can experience the humannessand compare it between now and the past time.

I can have a conclusion on this:

2

Humanness Privacy =

objectivesTo arise people’s awareness on the decreasing humanness among neighbours.

To document the living environment and activities in the pastwhich are being eliminated in the modern society.

character designThe main character dressed with a sharper colour will be a leading role which bring audience to explore the old living environment. It would be a boy dressing in casual clothing which can be easily found in the past.

Character Design 45

character designWith the references, I drew these three characters. I chose the left one to have further development because its feeling suits my animation and the limps are easier to animate.

Character Design 46

character designI recreate this character due to his trendy look.He doesn’t match the time in the past.He is too modern.

Character Design 47

character designHere is the final set of character designAll children share a similar hair styleBecause they cut their hair by the same stylist.

Character Design 48

character designI tried to fill the colour by watercolour pencils. But the colour is not stable while having a cell drawing animation

Character Design 49

character designSo, I use Photoshop to fill the colour. Colour pencil texture is added to create a feeling of the past.
