Ninfa Peña-Purcell, PhD, MCHES, is an associate professor and health specialist with Texas AgriLife Extension Service at Texas A&M University, and she also serves as an adjunct associate professor with the Texas A&M Health Science Center School of Rural Public Health. Dr. Peña-Purcell has over 25 years of experience in worksite health promotion. She is the lead author of two nationally recognized diabetes self-management education programs: ¡Sí, Yo Puedo Controlar Mí Diabetes! (Sí, Yo Puedo) and Wisdom, Power, Control. These culturally relevant programs target Hispanic/Latinos and African Americans, respectively. Dr. Peña-Purcell’s research interests include health disparities, culture competency, chronic disease prevention and management and tobacco prevention and cessation.

AgriLife Extension’s Worksite Wellness is a partnership with Texas worksites to promote a healthy, productive
workforce. The goal of our efforts is to provide businesses with technical and educational support in the design of a
customized, cost-effective and sustainable wellness program. AgriLife Extension has the resources to assist in
every stage of planning, implementing, and evaluating worksite wellness programs. This includes science-based
health education programs, which cover a variety of wellness topics.
