I FEELLIKE

A FOOLJOHN!

Face the facts!

If software licenses are little more than

mumbo-jumbo to you, chances are you

don’t know what software is installed on the

PCs in your organization. This could have

dire consequences. If you are absolutely

sure that all software in your organization

is properly licensed, you are probably aware

of the fact that your competition may not be

taking the issue nearly as seriously. Raising

awareness. That’s the goal of the Fact or Fiction campaign. After all, the facts speak

for themselves …

FACE THE FACTS

Cybercrime is more

extensive than the

worldwide black market

in marihuana, cocaine

and heroin together.

The commercial value of

unlicensed software used by

businesses in the UK amounted

to £ 1,350,000,000 in 2013.

Every day twice as much people become

victim of cybercrime as

babies are born.

There is a strong

correlation between

unlicensed software

and malware.

Only 35 % of

companies have

written policies

requiring the use of

properly licensed

software.

One in three copied software

packages has malware

in it.

Even though IT managers all over the

world fear the damage caused by the use of illegal software, less

than half of them are confident that the

software in their business is correctly

licensed.

In companies without a policy on

software usage (either formal and

informal), 59 % of employees claim that they frequently use

unlicensed software.

42 % of employees don’t

know if there is a

policy in place

regarding the use of

unlicensed software

within their organization.

Businesses that use

licensed software are on

average 19 % more profitable than

companies that use

unlicensed software.

In the UK, 24 % of installed business software is used unlawfully.
