NOTE: Although the ODOT Virtis Library file can be accessed and saved by any user
(steps 1 through 7), the actual import of the library (steps 8 through 13) into the BrR
program can only be accomplished by a BrR Administrator.
(1) You will first need to get a copy of the xml file containing ODOT’s Virtis Library information. It can be
found at our ftp site:

(2) You must accept the terms of the disclaimer in order to have access to the available files; click on
the “I accept…” link at the bottom of the paragraph, as shown:

(3) You will now see the FTP page. Select the Web_Download_Files directory:
(4) On this page, select the ODOT_Custom_Files link:

(5) You will now see the list of custom ODOT files; right click on the most recent Virtis Library xml file:

(7) Select save target as….menu bar:

(8) Save the file to someplace you can find it again; in this example, it is being saved in C:\Temp folder:

NOTE: The actual import into the BrR, as covered in the remaining steps, must be
performed by a user with BrR Administrator level permissions in order for the
import to work.

(10) After saving the xml file, go into BrR and open the Library Explorer by clicking on its icon, as shown, or
selecting Window>Library Explorer from the main menu bar:
(11) Once Library Explorer is open, select File>Import from the main menu:

(12) In the resulting file selection window, navigate to the folder where the ODOT library xml file was
saved; select the saved xml file and open it, either by double clicking on it or clicking on the Open
button:
(13) Library Importer now wants to know how much of the xml file you want to import. Typically, you will
want to import all of it, so click on the icon that will move all categories into the “Selected to Import”
box:
(14) Once the selection is complete, click on the Import button to complete the process:

(15) BrR will let you know of any items that did not import and why. In that the import is not an overwrite
(see “Library Import” topic in the BrR help), import items with the same name as existing library items
are not imported:
(16) To import ODOT Vehicles only, click on Standard Gage under Vehicles in the left most window and
select individual vehicles by pressing Ctrl and clicking mouse simultaneously on the vehicle name in
the middle window. Then select the top arrow on the left window.

(17) Selected vehicles will show in the right most window. Then press import
(18) A message will show if the import is successful.

Importing System Data
1) Download the System_data_export XML file from the ODOT FTP site and save in the C:\Temp
folder (or where you can find it later.)
2) Go to the Bridge Explorer Window and select Import System Data from the File menu
3) Navigate to the folder where System_data _export XML file was stored and select it.

4) The Analysis Templates, System Defaults and BrM parameters can be imported by selecting and
moving to the right window.
