Preparing Our Students for the Changing World of Work

We want AI students to:

Commit to continuing

education & training

Be globalised & be open to

differences

Be adaptable to changes &

be receptive to new

things/ideas/knowledge

Be resilient – able to manage

stress & multiple demands,

be flexible

Define success in their own

terms

How are we helping students prepare for these changes:

Changes in education landscape & longer work life

change our mindset about learning (no clear

demarcation on school & work life) & conventional

pathway (ITE to Poly to Uni: more years but why the

hurry?)

Employers looking at attributes other than grades

focus more on soft skills & exploration instead of grades

Work will disappear/change when they graduate

Change our mindset about what are good

careers/industries; be open to new job scopes;

Need for strong values & self-management

emphasize and teach these intentionally
