Dear All
Welcome to our 2013 catalogue, to which we’ve added an at-a-glance listing of titles in the various series beyond our corerange of country and regional guides (page 22). The catalogue isalso available to download from our website.
So we can keep you up-to-date on what’s being publishedwhen, we will be creating a trade section of the website fromwhere you can download advance information sheets andupdates on publications. We’ll send you further details as soonas the new section is ready.
By the end of 2013 we will have around 170 titles in print. In 2013 we will be adding to ournew range of travel narratives with titles from first-time authors and established writers suchas Jonathan Scott, Peter Tyson and our very own Hilary Bradt, all of whom have wonderfultales to tell. Countries covered in the new titles include Mexico, Libya, Madagascar, Africa andIreland, and there is a fascinating account of travelling through the Arab Spring from travelwriter and journalist Tom Chesshyre.
On the home front, we continue to explore Britain with a new Slow guide to the New Forestand the much anticipated Bus-Pass Britain Rides Again. Bus riders throughout Britain havecontributed articles on more enticing bus routes and this sequel promises to be every bit aspopular as the original Bus-Pass Britain, published in 2011. And the offering wouldn’t becomplete without wildlife, for which we have James Lowen’s delightful 52 Wildlife Weekends:a Year of British Wildlife-Watching Breaks.
We’re proud of our tradition of ‘getting there first ‘ and of the fact that each Bradt guide is aone-of-a-kind expression of the author’s interests, personality, expertise and passion fortelling it how it really is. Our programme this year therefore includes more ground-breakingtitles, including Uzbekistan, South Sudan and Tajikistan. We hope all our guides inspire youand your customers to keep travelling.

A Tourist in the Arab SpringTom Chesshyre
In the aftermath of the Arab Spring, war reporters rushed topublish accounts of the uprising. Tom Chesshyre took a differentapproach - he jumped on a plane and became the first to returnto the region as a tourist. The result is the fascinating, street-leveltale of a lay traveller's journey through lands fresh fromrevolution. Chesshyre heads for tourist sites that few have seen inrecent years, as well as new 'attractions' like Gaddafi's bombed-out bunker. In a book both touching and humorous, he alsodescribes being abducted in Libya, listening to the sound of Kalashnikovs at night andtalking to ordinary people struggling to get by.
■ Humorous, uplifting reportage-based travel writing with an edgy touch■ Considers the past and future of the Arab Spring with a lightness of touch ■ Includes travelling as a tourist through Tunisia, Libya and Egypt■ Publishes around the second anniversary of the Arab Spring
