Services for Staff Active Brunel
The Active Brunel programme offers all staff the chance
to access a range of informal and relaxed sport and
physical activity sessions at different times throughout
the week. There are a variety of sessions including:
swimming, aerobics, badminton and futsal to name a
few.
“No Experience Necessary”
At the heart of the programme is the joy of taking part
in physical activity, meeting new people and getting
active in a fun environment. You don’t need to worry
about wearing the latest kit, knowing the rules or
already be good at the sport.
Just turn up and give it a go!

Conflict Coaching Conflict Coaching is a confidential, informal support service
for Brunel University students and staff who may be
experiencing an unresolved conflict in a professional or per-
sonal relationship arising from their working life at Brunel.
Conflict Coaching can help by giving you a ‘space’ in
which to discuss your difficult relationship; and with the
assistance of a qualified Conflict Coach, you will have the
opportunity to reflect on how you are dealing with the
relationship , and then consider different ways of dealing
with it to manage or resolve the conflict. For example, you
may be having difficulties with colleagues; students;
managers or with people you line manage at work about a
number of issues, such as rudeness; lack of cooperation;
bullying; obstructiveness or communication difficulties.
Conflict Coaching can often be a helpful, informal and
confidential way in which to address such conflicts, by
empowering you to talk the issues through with an
independent and impartial third party.

Services for Staff
The University welcomes the views of its staff and recognises that
there may be occasions when you are dissatisfied with an aspect
of your working life at Brunel.
The University strives to ensure that such concerns can be
confidentially raised by staff without fear of prejudice to their
employment, and that issues are dealt with in a fair and
transparent way that respects the rights of all individuals involved.
For staff members who might have a problem or grievance which
they do not want to air through formal processes, the University,
therefore, offers a Mediation service; the aim of which is to resolve
problems both quickly and easily.
Mediation is conducted in a fully confidential environment, with
the assistance of an independent and impartial mediator, who will
encourage both sides of a dispute to reach a solution with which
they are both satisfied.

Staff Development Staff Development designs and delivers an exciting
professional development programme; including workshops,
briefings and away days.
Our programme is designed with you in mind and we work
closely with Schools and Departments across the University to
ensure that our programme continues to meet the
development needs of staff and supports the achievement of
Brunel’s strategic objectives.
We recognise that ‘working well’ isn’t just about performing
your role effectively. Alongside what you’d probably expect
to find within a staff development programme, such as
transferable and IT skill development, we have a dedicated
workshop series designed to support your well-being more
generally.
To learn more about the staff development programme or to
use our online booking system visit our intra.brunel
