Impact on student learningIn the build an animal math lesson the results
were as follows:Pre-assessment: 16 students made less than
seventy percent and 5 students made higher than seventy percent.
Post-assessment: 11 student made less than seventy percent and 10 students made higher than eighty percent.
Example of pre and post assessment.
Adjusting for the studentsAfter giving the pre-assessment I adjusted the lesson in the
following ways:Provided more practice during the lessonMade sure to have two different examples and left them
visible. I also made sure the student could go up and physically measure the piece to see where it would go.
Made a flip book to show an example of expanded form and number form
Modeled the activity and walked around and provided direct instruction

My PhilosophyThen:
That teaching was something a person did to make a difference and that everyone should be taught the same way.
Now:I have now learned
the importance of differentiation in the classroom. We have to teach everyone differently because everyone learns differently.
Plan to develop as a professional
In about a year or so I plan to continue my education and go on to earn a Master’s in education.
To continue to search for ways to improve my teaching abilities.
Plan to possibly get into teaching ESOL students and learn Spanish fluently.
Seek out new ways of teaching and new strategies.
