What is it?

• Need to adopt best practices. – Global leader with focus on leadership development– Agenda for ICT enabled local public services reform– Private/public collaboration to nurture leadership

• Leadership development programme. – “Do you aspire to be a leader of ICT and change?”

• Partnership between SOCITM and IBM. – Ran successfully for 1st time in 2012 – 48 successful graduates so far(2012 & 2013)

• Equip future ICT transformation leaders.– skills, knowledge and confidence to effect meaningful change in their

organization

Who is it for?

• Public and 3rd sector organizations. – Local Government, Central Government, Health, Police, & Fire

• Potential senior leaders.– Limit of 15 participants=competition for places

• Senior executive sponsorship/support.• Transformational projects in next 12 months.• Conducted over 6 months.

– Graduation day at annual SOCITM conference in London• For me, its not over–ONLY JUST STARTING.• AND THERE ARE NO FEES!

What did it involve?

• Kick off with Leadership workshops.• 1-1 mentoring with professional IBM coach. • Mid-term site visit with guest speakers.• Dedicated and private online collaboration

community–Knowledge Hub.• Directed reading.– “Success Intelligence” by Robert Holden {With such a fast pace of life

when can emerging ICT leaders stop, reflect and learn?)

• Individual presentations and objectives.• Final workshop and graduation day.

What did it involve?

• Leading versus Managing.• Inspiring employee commitment.• Emotional Intelligence. • Leading through influence.• Sphere of influence.• Insights on leadership.• Leading through collaboration.• Innovation–think like Disney.

How did it help me?

• Opportunity to stop, think and reflect.– Barriers, weaknesses, and what holds me back?

• Enthusiastic, participative, and like minded colleagues sharing similar issues/experiences.

• Thinking challenged and broadened in a positive way.• Make time for vision, mission and strategy.• Engaging and invaluable learning experience. • Not just leadership skills, but life skills.

How did it help me?

• Personal achievements.– Satisfaction with work and personal life– Feeling positive, inspired and motivated– Confidence booster– Expanding skills and competencies– Transforming my behavior/actions– Discovering new strengths & positive traits and using to my

advantage– Passionate about change

• The brain is a learning tool…– Childhood patterns that influence behavior– You get to speak when you have the ball!– ‘That is a good question so let me come back to you’
