This recital presents a unique opportunity for students, parents and
teachers to hear a high calibre of student performance in Vancouver and
to appreciate the many hours of dedicated work spent in the preparation
of public recitals and music festivals.
The Guild Committee members and the adjudicators will award class
trophies and Student Performers’ Guild Scholarships at the Junior,
Intermediate and Senior levels.
We hope that all music teachers will continue to encourage their students,
and their parents to support our young musicians by attending these
recitals.
Trophy winners should come 30 minutes early to sign for their trophies.
Teachers of selected students will be contacted on or after November 29,
2013. Teachers must notify their respective students to be present at the
recital.

Message from the Chair On behalf of the Student Performers Guild and the BCRMTA, Vancouver branch, I would like to thank all the parents and teachers of the participants for their ongoing support of this festival. It is the intention of this festival to cultivate the love of music in these young musicians by providing them a venue to hone their performance skills and to give them an opportunity to share with others their talent and hard work. Special recognition goes to our adjudicators, the SPG committee members, members of our association, our donors and sponsors, who without their support this festival would not be possible. Best wishes to all the participants! Toni Meyer, BComm, ARCT Chairman
Policies of the Festival
Music Students are expected to bring their own original music to be handed to the adjudicator assistant before the class begins. Music must have the student’s name on it, and marked on the first page of the piece. All unnecessary marking should be erased. The piece should be marked with bar numbers. Music will be returned at the end of the class. No photocopied or duplicate music is to be handed to the assistant or used in the performances without the proper release notice. Release notices for out-of-print music may be obtained from your local music store. While students who forget their music will be permitted to play, no mark or rank will be given.
Class Behaviour Students are expected to be present for the entire class. They should wait for the adjudicator’s signal before beginning, and after performing, sit in the first row of the room in preparation for the adjudication.
Awards Marks will be awarded in each class to participants who have achieved a mark of 80% or higher. No mark will be announced. Only the first, second and third place winners will be announced by the adjudicator and Certificates will be awarded. All trophies and scholarship awards (except for some classes) will be awarded at the Honour Recital which will be held on Sunday, December 8, 2013 at Shadbolt Centre for the Arts, Room 102 at 6450 Deer Lake Avenue in Burnaby.
Do Not Approach the Adjudicator Competitors, teachers, and parents are not permitted to approach or speak to the adjudicator for any reason whatsoever. Any necessary communication may be addressed to the adjudicator assistant.
Silence Please As a courtesy to the participants performing, we ask that all cell phones, pagers, and electronic devices be turned off during the session.
Telephone/Email Enquiries Students and parents should direct all their enquiries to their teacher. Only the teacher can make enquiries to the appropriate festival committee member by email. They will be answered within 24 hours.
Complaints and Protests All complaints and protests must be made in writing to the Chair within the duration of the festival, accompanied by a protest fee of $30.00. Should a written protest be sustained, fees will be returned in full. All decisions of the Guild Committee are final
