Dolls house as shell

Barbara’s house in pieces

My inspiration

Laying electrics

Electrical circuits numbered to switch on individual lights

After twenty years, hoping to move in!

Handcrafted oak door fitted with an equestrian door knocker and a gilded door handle taken from a clock. The Coat of Arms above the door was hand-chiselled.

Hand-forged metal plate bearing the date of the house’s construction

The exposed timbers were specially cut with the band-saw, glued to its previously bland exterior and were filled in with white Polyfiller. The

house is nearing its completion.

Handcrafted specially commissioned leaded windows made from antique, hand-painted glass and pre-1900 coloured photo-slides. The

upper hall, bathroom and child’s room windows were made by Barbara Duggal. Each window frame was made during woodwork classes to fit

each individual window using old and antique wooden borders.

The inside of the right wing of the house. Before and after.

The floors are all hand-made. The parquet floor comprises 1,050 individually laid pieces of dark pine. The master bedroom’s floor

consists of thinly cut mahogany strips, like the hallway, and the child’s room. The bathroom is brick-tiled and the kitchen floor was made and

kiln-fired by Barbara’s sister.

Hand-painted oils and rugs from upholstery material.
