Nozzle Assembly Checklist – Revision 1 1

Document Title: Nozzle Assembly Checklist Revision No: 1

Description: Checklist for the Assembly, Repairand Testing of all Refuelling Nozzles

Issue Date: 10/01

This document details a checklist which may be used to ensure all main details of theAssembly, Repair and Test Manual for Banlaw Refuelling Nozzles are followed wheneither assembling a new or repaired nozzle.

NOTE: This document is not meant in any way to replace the detailed assembly, repairand test procedures contained in the Manual. This checklist should only be used toconfirm various key tasks are carried out.

Checklist:

Have all separate assemblies detailed in the “Assembly Procedure” document been

assembled correctly;

• Housing Assembly

• Sleeve Assembly

• Piston Assembly

• Actuator Assembly

• Body Assembly

• End-Cap Assembly

• Handle Assembly

Ensure all parts and assemblies are undamaged and free from dust, metal shavings

and other contaminants. Pay particular attention to all seals and sealing surfaces,

including the nozzle piston chamber and nozzle sleeve bore.

Ensure correct Loctite ThreadLocking Compound is applied to thread between Body

and Housing.

Ensure free and easy movement of Piston Assembly within piston chamber.

Conduct leak testing of Piston and Sleeve seals by air testing as per T001.

Confirm correct dimensions of Back Spring prior to use – refer Table 2.2.2.1 in

document T004 for spring specifications of AUS21A-029 and 21A-027 springs.

Confirm correct positioning of circlip within End-Cap and correct Back Spring is

chosen to achieve desired shut-off pressure setting for nozzle.

Ensure correct Loctite ThreadLocking Compound is applied to the 4 screws securing

the End-Cap to the Housing

Nozzle Assembly Checklist – Revision 1 2

Confirm Oil Seals within the End-Cap are installed correctly and adequately lubricated

with Grease prior to installing each Brass Bush.

Ensure free and easy action of catch mechanism in operating handle prior to

installation. Remove any burrs from sides of operating handle surrounding Trigger

Knobs.

Ensure correct Loctite ThreadLocking Compound is applied to the 2 screws in each end

of the Square Shaft.

Confirm the free and easy action of the operating handle once installed onto the

nozzle. The travel from ON to OFF should be relatively smooth and free from

significant differences in the effort required. The operating handle should readily spring

from the OFF to ON position when the Catch is released.

Confirm the required 22.0 ± 0.5mm displacement of the central nozzle assembly i.e.

measure displacement of Retainer between operating handle in ON and OFF positions.

Ensure the catch detent on the underside of the End-Cap is lightly filed to a smooth

surface.

Flow and leak test nozzle as per T004. Be sure to detect and rectify any leakage

from nozzle, and confirm the “steady-state” shut-off pressure is within the required

range. Record results.

Ensure Nozzle Plug is attached and all required stickers are affixed.

Confirm the correct Serial Code, Model code and Spring Setting code are stamped

onto the housing in the required positions

Record the Serial Code, Model code, Spring Setting Code and a brief description of

the flow test results (flowrate and shut-off pressure) from testing in T004 for each

nozzle.

Place the nozzle into a sealed plastic bag and place into store to await dispatch.
