THE MODERN ERA: HENRI MATISSE AND OTHER MODERNISTS WILL BE ON DISPLAY AT THE BALTIMORE MUSEUM OF ART
The collection will feature three prominent artists from the beginning of the modern art movement. Henri Matisse is the artist with the most number of works in the exhibition. The entire collection will be displayed on the third floor of the museum from November 15th until April 1st.
Matisse was a French artist, known for his use of colour and his fluid and original draughtsmanship. He was a draughtsman, printmaker, and sculptor, but is known primarily as a painter. Matisse is commonly regarded as one of the three artists who helped to define the revolutionary developments in the plastic arts in the 20th century, responsible for significant developments in painting and
sculpture. By the 1920s he was increasingly hailed as an upholder of the classical tradition in French painting. His
