Math: Write and interpret numerical expressions, analyze patterns and relationships , place value, add, subtract, multiply, and divide fractions, convert like measurement units, represent and interpret data using graphs, volume, coordinate planes, two-dimensional figures.
**Our class will be participating in a math pilot this year.

HOMEWORK
• Homework will be turned in each morning
• Homework will be checked after school and returned to the student the following day
• Homework Marks:• INC= incomplete. Please finish and return by Friday.• CR= correct and return. Please return by Friday.• 0=did not turn in. Please complete and turn in by Friday.
• If a student receives an INC, CR, or O on a homework assignment they can complete the assignment and turn it in by Friday to receive credit.
HOMENOTES
• Homenotes will be sent home each Friday starting August 21st.
• Each homenote will have a list of assignments students with assignments highlighted that students did not complete during the week. This includes missing homework assignments and classwork.
• Attached to each homenote will also be any tests the student took the previous week.• Tests taken on Fridays will be on the following week’s
homenote
• An “ALL STAR” homenote means all assignments have been turned in. A check means one to four assignments are missing, and a check minus means more than five assignments are missing. All check and check minus homenotes must be signed and are to be returned on Monday.
• If a student does not bring back a signed homenote on Monday, they will not be able to play at recess.
IPADS
• 5th graders get 1:1 iPads!!!
• Parent meeting• Wednesday, August 26th @ 6:00PM in MPR• Mrs. McComb will go over things such as:• Why iPads?• Responsibility• Appropriate use• Ethical use• What if the iPad gets damaged?
• iPad can not go home until parent and student attend a parent iPad meeting
SPECIAL EVENTS
• STARBASE field trips• Each Tuesday in the month of September, 5th grade
students will take a field trip that focuses on engineering.
• Be at school by 7:15!

• Pageant of Historical Moments: Spring 2015
• Community service project for children at CHOC hospital (more information to come)
