about this topic?   4. During/after reading, what new information have you learned. Be sure to show evidence from the text.   5. How is the character feeling? Be sure to use evidence from

the text to support your ideas   6. Why would the character choose to act that way? Be sure

to use evidence from the text to support your idea.

About the Text

Explain how one or more of the pictures add meaning to the story.

How does the author use word choice or punctuation to show emotion? (surprise, happiness, sadness….)

Non-fiction books: discuss text features: captions, headings, diagrams.

 Discuss if the story could be true. What would the author need to know in order to write this book/story?

 Express opinions about the text. What do you like or dislike. What compliments would you give the author or what changes would you suggest the author make?

 Make judgments about the characters actions. Do they make good decisions? Would you choose to act the same way as the character or act differently?

Writing

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Support your opinion with specific examples of what you liked or did not like.

Connect with the text ~ Have you ever been in a similar situation, setting,

known someone who was like a character that was in the book? Use specific examples from your experiences to write a personal narrative.
