HOW DOES MM BUILD COMMUNITY? Greeting: Start meeting with hand shake or other type
of greeting. (Examples)
Communicate: Teach students how to take turns speaking in the group, reflect on what is shared, and how to respond with respect.
Interview: Teach students to tell a story using interesting details. Then the audience practices “Comments and Questions” relevant to the story shared.
Share & Respond: Students share journal entries, current events and other items for discussion.
Set Expectations: Review the agenda and learning objectives for the day. Ready-Set-Go!

WHAT MATH CONCEPTS CAN BE INCLUDED IN “CALENDAR ACTIVITIES”?
Calendar Activities Telling Time-analog, digital, elapsed Money Concepts Weather-graphing weather Place Value / Base Ten Rounding Odd & Even Counting by 2’s, 5’s, 10’s, 100’s, etc Patterns Anything and Everything!

Or do a Morning Message everyday, but change
the topic each day of the week: Weekend Update, Reading Connection, Science, Current Events, Real World Math.
