ISSUE 20 AUTUMN 2015 PILATES NELSON
What a wonderful summer we have had, Nelson has really turned it on this year and it has been good for my body and soul. When I am outdoors in nature it is like balm for my being and this summer I have been able to enjoy walking, biking, swimming and paddling, returning to the studio refreshed to make a good start to the year.
Get on down…… to Saturday Classes! I am very happy to have Casey Hayward now teaching in the studio. Casey is a trained Pilates instructor from Balanced Body in New York City and has a background in Dance and Theatre and a degree in Fine Arts.
Casey is teaching Yogalates, a fusion Pilates/Yoga class at 8-9am for early birds on Saturdays and also an Open Pilates class at 9.30-10.30am. If your working week is feeling a little squeezed, Saturday morning classes are a great option to fit a regular class into your routine or to catch up if you've missed your class during the week.
Here is a comment I received recently “Kate, I want you to know how much I enjoyed the new Yogalates class with Casey. She has a lovely gentle approach and is very encouraging. I like the combination of strengthening and stretch and I think it makes a great way to start the weekend.”

The Power of thought- Visualisation Dinosaur tails, legs reaching out into space, melting like wax….a picture is worth a thousand words. Visualisation uses images to produce physical sensations in the body that create pathways to better understanding and connection, enhancing your physical practice by bringing your whole self into the movement, encouraging interconnectivity, insight and creative action that promotes the essential mind/body connection of your Pilates practice. If an image doesn’t resonate with you immediately, don't dismiss it outright, keep it to the back of your mind and one day, maybe not this year, but sometime you will experience that aha! moment.
College Pilates A class dedicated to secondary students focusing on stabilising and mobilising the younger body, helping to reduce pain, increase stamina and enhance the body/ mind connection. Casey has been teaching this class on Wednesdays at 4pm this term, here’s what Amelia (15) had to say about her class-“Casey’s great, really enjoying her classes, she’s helpful and easy to understand. Helping my back loads, challenging which is good too.” Enrolments for next term are being taken now.
