The first official celebrations were held in 1818 and was called “Foundation Day” and some states later called it “Anniversary Day.”It was not until 1946 that all states and territories adopted the name of “Australia Day.”It was not until 1994 that Australia Day was to be celebrated on the 26 January, as some states would leave it till the weekend to celebrate.
