COURSE OFFERINGS

The TERRA Music Program currently offers the following courses:

● Chamber Strings ● Symphony Band/Orchestra● Chorus● Beginning Guitar● Advanced Guitar (Rock Ensemble)

MUSIC COURSES FILL UP FAST! Students should indicate music as their FIRST ELECTIVE CHOICE for subject selection.

CHAMBER STRINGS

Yearly performances include: two concerts, district evaluation, solo and ensemble, and graduation.

AUDITION REQUIRED A class for advanced string players

(violin, viola, cello, string bass).

SYMPHONY BAND/ORCHESTRANO AUDITION REQUIREDMINIMUM of ONE-YEAR EXPERIENCE ON AN ORCHESTRAL INSTRUMENT

● WOODWINDS: flute, oboe, bassoon, clarinet, saxophone● BRASS: Trumpet, French horn, trombone, baritone, tuba● CONCERT PERCUSSION: snare drum, timpani, mallets -NOT drum set● STRINGS: violin, viola, cello, string bass

Performances include: two concerts, district evaluation, solo & ensemble, and graduation.

CHORUS

● The class is for any student who enjoys singing. ● We sing traditional choral music, popular music, Broadway musicals, and

music from movies.● Many opportunities for singing in large and small groups.

Performances include: two concerts, solo & ensemble, and graduation.

NO AUDITION REQUIRED

ADVANCED GUITAR (ROCK ENSEMBLE)AUDITION REQUIRED FOR NEW STUDENTS

● Students will perform in a rock band or an acoustic guitar ensemble.

● Rock band students MUST supply their own electric bass, electric guitar, drumset (for home practice), or keyboard (for home practice).

Performances: two concerts and solo & ensemble. Rock bands perform at pep rallies.

BEGINNING GUITAR

● Introduction to guitar technique and music note-reading. ● School owned guitars are available for students who do not own an

instrument.

Performances include: one concert and solo & ensemble.

NO AUDITION REQUIRED

AUDITION PROCEDURE

1. REGISTER TO AUDITION - CLICK HERE TO FILL OUT ONLINE FORM2. PREPARE YOUR AUDITION AS FOLLOWS:

a. CHAMBER STRINGS: 1. G and D Major Scales , 2. Prepared Music (this can be a solo or an excerpt from music you are currently working on)

b. ADVANCED GUITAR (ROCK ENSEMBLE): Acoustic Guitar, Electric Guitar, Electric Bass, Drumset, Keyboard/Piano - Perform a song of your choice that you believe best demonstrates your musical skill.

c. PIANO: Any piece of music that demonstrates fundamental skill and technique.3. VIDEO RECORD YOURSELF PERFORMING THE AUDITION MATERIAL.4. SUBMIT YOUR VIDEO BY FRIDAY, APRIL 30 TO: AUDITIONS@terramusic.org

ADDITIONAL INFORMATIONPIANO - TERRA does not offer class piano. There are limited openings for pianists in Orchestra, Chorus, and Adv. Guitar (Rock Ensemble). Prospective pianists must prepare an audition for these classes.

MARCHING BAND - TERRA does not offer activities in marching band or drumline.
