Purpose of the Hackathon

The objectives of running DSBI – Atlanta Hackathon

1. A community contribution to strengthen the knowledge base around Data Science.2. Helping startups and enterprise companies achieve initial understanding of their Data sets. 3. Creating a business networking environment for DS & BI professionals in Metro Atlanta.4. Boosting the intertest of participants in the DS & BI.5. Helping Individual and company generation business activities by learning more about

Data Science and its impact & benefits. 6. Help organizations and Individual learn get some insights from their data sets

and be able to solve certain business problems.7. Provide the opportunity for individual to practice on building MVPs at lower costs.

Hackathon Schedule and Groups - The Hackathon will run approx. 2 months – April and May 2019.

- Kick off Date– March 27th

- Location – Microsoft Office., Avalon Business Campus – Alpharetta - Suggested Hackathon Dates will be;

- Every Wednesday 6-9 PM - Location to be confirmed (team decision)- Every Saturday – Time and Locations to be Confirmed (team decision)- Happy Hours – Networking session at the end of every session (Occasionally)- 1st hour is training followed by 2 hours of hacking .. (as requested by the team)

Team- Teams to be divided in 5-7 members . - Assembly and classification of the of the team to be decided at a later stage

based on data sets, technology to be used (i.e. R, Python), experience, interest and skills.

Problem Definition & MVPs

The DSBI Hackathon participants will have a multiple Data Sets that will be analyzed and looked into. The Data set that currently exists;

1- CRM Data Sets – problems (Customer Churn, Customer scoring)2- Financial Markets Data Sets (to be confirmed). 3- Other to be suggested.

MVPs

The MVPs will be built by the teams to solve the data problem on based on the business problem as provided by the business owner and data sets.

Participants Communication Activities ..

Set up a way for participants to communicate digitally and stay in touch after the event. Some options are:

•A chat room, like Slack or WhatsApp Group ?•A social media channel, like a hashtag on Twitter or a Facebook group / Instagram ?•A shared document space - Google Docs ?•An email list, like a Google Group ?•Team meetings scheduling

Marketing Activities

1. Event swag, like t-shirts or stickers . .etc (to be determined)

2. Digital Marketing

• Social Media Announcements – LinkedIn)• Meetup Blogs, LinkedIn .. • Corporate and venue support (News releases, Website Mentions ..etc) ?? • Photography

Expert Panel of Judges

The Hackathon judges should be coming from diverse background;

1- Data Scientists and Business Intelligence Experts2- Software Developers experts in R, Python, .NET ..etc. 3- Product Development and Management4- CRM Marketing Experts 5- IIOT and Industrial Domain Experts 4- User Experience (UX) Designers
