Jane Turner has been making "Emotionally propelled

choreography...formidable" (The Stage, London) since forming her own

dance company in London in the 1990s. Her work has toured in UK and

Europe. "Her images not only compelled the attention, they resonated long

after in the memory” (MTD Journal of the Performing Arts). Herchoreographic method maps the essential dynamics, histories and

possibilities of individual bodies and selves to weave multi-textural

choreographic events "Excellent" (Suddeutsche Zeitung, Munich) and

draws on wide experience working with different media and digital

technologies that result in work that is "Mesmerising, playful, provocative"(East Anglian Daily Times).

Jane presented a few of her works at the ASTI Workshop Event in Warsaw

on Monday 4th March 2013. Below is her presentation.

Break is made in mind of the essential paradox at the heart of things:

that a wave of energy is also a particle of matter, that there are two

realities depending on perspective. Quantum Mechanics. Break was part

of the Chemistry project 2012. Filmed at London Metropolitan University

studio and in performance at the Weston Auditorium, UK

This short film shows initial performance experiments where dancers,

interacting with sound triggering sensors and spatial recognition

systems results in dance-music performance that lies somewhere

between improvisation and composition.

The music and dance evolve in real time all parts

responding to the laws of emergence where

the small parts feedback and affect the whole.

Herd reconsiders the age old pairing of Woman and Nature. Drawing

on the organic and evolutionary structural shapings of Nature’s

systems we use the circular celtic maze pattern as bothspatial setting

and symbol for transformation.

Working again with Nick Rothwell the production draws on innovative

audiovisual technologies as an integral part of the performance

matrix where rules of emergence render themselves as choreography,

sound and image.
