What is a genocide ?

A genocide is the extermination of people who have the same origin, religion, language, culture...

Who ?

Armenians are a Christian people, who used to live in the Ottoman empire.

Turkish are Muslims. They considered the Armenians as pro-Russians and saboteurs.

Armenians in the Ottoman empire a thousand years ago.

When ?

The Armenian genocide happened from 1915 to 1916 during the World War I (1914-1918). Because the Turkish were with Germans, who were fighting against the Russians, they acused the Armenians to be pro-Russians.

Where ?The Armenian genocide took place in eastern Turkey, and a lot of Armenians were deported in deserts of Mesopotamia (the current Iraq) and Syria.

How ?Turkishes gathered Armenians for deporting them in the deserts.They died from starvation or exhaustion. They were executed.
