What is Mind Mapping? It is a tool which helps us in using both (right & left) half of the

brain. Normally what happens one part of the brain is dominant.

• Imagination

• Colours

• Rhythm

• Day dreaming example, right now if

you are thinking that what you are

doing here - you should be

swimming in a cool blue ocean

with your best friend, which is

called day dreaming.

• Logic

• Numbers

• Details

• Words

Example, if I say, how much is 2 X 2, then your left brain is at work.

Mind map helps us to use our brain wholistically. It helps us to capture the length and

breadth of any activi ty.

People say use your head, use your head but nobody tells us how to use it. MIND

MAPPING is one such technique which tells us how to use our head. Coined by "Tony

Buzan" Mind Mapping is a useful technique that improves the way you take notes, and

supports and increases your creative problem solving.

By using Mind Maps, you can quickly ident ify and understand the structure of a subject,

and the way that pieces of information fit together, as well as recording the raw facts

contained in normal notes.

More than this, Mind Maps enables creative problem solving, and they hold

information in a format that your mind finds easy to remember and quick to review.

But before we go into it, let us see what is brain and how it works.

Each human brain consists of a number of brain cells called neuron. When we increase

the size to one neuron - we see, but it looks like a giant Octopus, which can fit on the

head of a pin.

They have mushroom like structure - dendritic spines or synaptic buttons.

Largest dendrite is called Axon, it is the main exit door of all the informationtransmission.

Right brain is associated with

Left brain is associated with

And when an event occurs or we think of something, electromagnetic impulses are

generated. Each time an impulse is generated, a trace is formed or followed depending

upon the type of impulse - new or old. Each time same impulse is generated, that trace

gets DEEPENED. It is like going through a jungle- when you go through first time, you

have to clear the path - much efforts are required. But when you go the second time,

the path is already cleared due to first journey. When you keep on traveling on that

path - A SOLID & SMOOTH is made .

Same happens in the mind. When you try to remember something for the first time,

there is resistance. But when you do it for second time, resistance is less and then you

are able to remember it easily. That is why during exams revision is done and in case of

CA exams two-three revisions are done to get sure shot success.

The potential of human brain is unlimited. It was calculated that Albert Einstein, who is

known to be the most intelligent human on earth, used only 6% of his brain capacity. So

just think, how much we are using 0.5% OR 0.1%.

Take a plain paper in landscape format. Plain because lines makes it structured.

Landscape because it gives more space.

Put central theme in the center as an image, if possible. For example lets take"Exam

Preparation”

A complete Mind Map may have main topic lines radiating in all directions from the

center. Sub-topics and facts will branch of these, like branches from the trunk of a tree.

You do not need to worry about the structure produced, as this will evolve as you

develop your mind map.

How this will help you in your CA studies:
