In the history of
the world, it can
be easily
observed that of
the settlement
have flourished in
the vicinity of
water. Water was
a major
determinant in
the location,
growth and
development of
the early
settlement and
culture, Indian
water fronts have
become main
center for
religious and
public activities.
Nature endowed the city with beauty which justifies its name
SUNDERWADI. On geographical account, Sawntwadi is a fine
example of peripheral city situated around MOTI LAKE. This
pearl-lake formed like an open oyester under the sun that lies in
front of royal palace, built in the era of the then king khem
sawant bhonsale III (1755-1803)

An elite heritage destination nestled in this beautiful environment of
konkan is a standing testimony to our rich heritage and history
waiting to be explored by tourist. Thus heritage tourism is an
important component of sawantwadi.
On the periphery of Moti talav this beautiful city is situated.
The famous Moti talav ia a pearl situated in natural beautiful
shell. Sawantwadi surrounded by high green tree claded

In the field of art and culture sawantwadi has been known for
its handicraft from about 250 yrs. A sure sense of color and

this fort are the water-
tank with its flight of
steps, the tunnel
opening towards the
south, the magazine for
keeping ammunition and

Observation Tower
which is a rarity. From
