CPU Socket
LGA1150
LGA 1150 known as Socket H3., is a microprocessor socket used by CPU. The LGA
1150 socket has 1150 protruding pins that make contact with the pads on the bottom side of the
processor. Most motherboards with the LGA 1150 socket support varying video outputs.
Chipset
Intel H81 Chipsets
There is chipset on the motherboard. A chipset is a set of electronic components in an
integrated circuit that manages the data flow between the processor, memory and peripherals.
Chipsets are usually designed to work with a specific family of microprocessors because it
controls communications between the processor and external devices. In determining system
performance, the chipset plays a crucial role. The H81 chipset is very limited compared to other
chipsets because it does not support SLI/Crossfire at all. SLI is a brand name for a multi-GPU
technology for linking two or more video cards together to produce a single output. SLI is an
algorithm of parallel processing for computer graphics, meant to increase the processing power
available for graphics.
Expansion slot
1*PCle 2.0x16, 1*PCle 2.0x1, 1*PCl
Peripheral Component Interconnect Express (PCIe or PCI-E) is a serial expansion bus
standard for connecting a computer to one or more peripheral devices. For this motherboard, it
has 2 slots of PCL and 1 slot for PCI. The 1 slot is for PCle 2.0x16 which is specified for graphic
card slot. One slot is PCle 2.0x1 slot. This slot is usually specified for network card. The third
slot is the PCI. This slot is for other expansion cards such as sound cards, 56k modems, and
Ethernet adapters
Form factor
Micro ATX
In computers, the form factor is the size, configuration, or physical arrangement of a
computing device. The term is commonly used in describing the size and/or arrangement of a
device. This motherboard use Micro ATX which is basically standard for motherboard .The
maximum size of a microATX motherboard is 9.6 × 9.6 in (244 × 244 mm), but some microATX
boards can be as small as 6.75 × 6.75 in (171.45 × 171.45 mm).
SATA
2*SATA2,*SATA3
SATA is defined as Serial ATA. It is a computer bus interface that connects host bus
adapters to mass storage devices such as hard disk drives and optical drives. This motherboard
has 2 slots for SATA2 and 2 slots for SATA3. The difference between both SATA is the speed.
The SATA2 native transfer rate of 3.0 Gbit/s that, when accounted for the 8b/10b
encoding scheme, equals to the maximum uncoded transfer rate of 2.4 Gbit/s (300 MB/s).
Meanwhile, for SATA3, the native transfer rate of 6.0 Gbit/s; taking 8b/10b encoding into
account, the maximum uncoded transfer rate is 4.8 Gbit/s (600 MB/s).
Audio
5.1 CH HD Audio (Realtek ALC662)
Audio port is use to connect the speaker, mike, and MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital
Interface) device of the computer. ALC 662 is a 5.1 Channel High Definition Audio Codec
designed for Windows Vista desktop and mobile PCs. The ALC 662 features three stereo DACs,
two stereo ADCs, and legacy analog input to analog output mixing to provide fully-integrated
audio solution for multimedia PC systems. The ALC 662 also supports a sampling rate of up to
96 kHz. It offers easy connection of PCs to high quality consumer electronic products such as
digital decoders and speakers.
LAN
Realtek GLAN
LAN port is called as Local Area Network of the computer. This port is use to connect
the numbers of node or workstations (PC) to form a local area network of the computer with in
their area. It used in many type of communication media such as the network switch and router.
Rear I/O:
1*PS/2 mouse, 1*PS/2 Keyboard, 1*COM, 1*Parallel port, 1*D-sub, 4*USB 2.0, 2*USB 3.0
Input output module is a a module which an external device can be connected to the PC
or motherboard. Computers can only interact with the world using input and output devices. The
moptherboad has 2 PS/2 connectors. The PS/2 connector is a 6-pin mini-DIN connector used for
connecting some keyboards and mice to a PC compatible computer system. It also has 1 COM
port which is the Communication port.
It has one parallel port. The A parallel port is a type of interface found on computers
(personal and otherwise) for connecting peripherals. It has one D-sub port which is also known
as a VGA port, an analog connection standard. It is called D-sub because of the shape of the port.
The connector is a DE-15 connector with 15 pins in three rows.
The mother board has a total of 6 USB port. The USB 2.0 port can transfer data at a very high
speed which is 480 megabits per second (Mbps), or 60 megabytes per second (MBps). While for
USB 3.0, the maximum bandwidth rate of 5 gigabits per second (Gbps) or 640 megabytes per
second (MBps)
It has one LAN port, for LAN connection which is the internet and it also has 3 Audio
jacks. The 2 audio jacks are Audio In, Audio Out and for Microphone.
CPU Support
Supports New 4th and 4th Generation Intel® Core™ i7/i5/i3/Xeon®/Pentium®/Celeron®
Processors
CPU support for H81M-GL supports new 4th and 4th Generation Intel® Core™
i7/i5/i3/Xeon®/Pentium®/Celeron®Processors and its CPU socket type is Socket 1150.
Traditional motherboards are mostly equipped with analog Pulse-width modulation (PWM),
which might bring users annoying problems that the CPU power supply is not stable enough,
hence affects the computing efficiency. Digi power design (digital Pulse-width modulation),
providing CPU Vcore voltage more efficiently and smoothly. In addition, the unique part is, it
provides the most reliable computing CPU power solution, allowing users to enjoy the amazing
performance. Besides that, it uses 4 power phase design which it supplies the overall power to
your CPU through VRM's and MOSFET's. They are important with supplying your CPU with
power, and if one were to die, the entire motherboard would most likely. Besides that, it also
supports Intel® Turbo Boost 2.0 Technology.
Memory
2*DDR3 1600
Memory for H81M-GL supports Intel® Extreme Memory Profile (XMP) 1.3 / 1.2. It uses
dual channel DDR3/DD3L memory technology. It has 2 slots of memory for DDR3/DD3L
DIMM. It also supports DDR3/DD3L 1600/1333/1066 non-ECC, un-buffered memory. DDR3
memory is the latest generation of memory for computing applications and offers many benefits
over DDR2 including lower latencies, higher speeds, and more. DDR3 is not backward-
compatible with DDR2. For this type of memory, a higher number represents faster memory, or
more bandwidth. Occasionally DDR3 is referred to by a "friendly name" like "DDR3-1066" or
"DDR3-1333". When written this way, the numbers after "DDR3" refer to the data transfer rate
per second (/s) of the components. The maximum capacity of system memory is 16GB. As for
system usage under Windows® 32-bit OS, the actual memory size may be less than 4GB for the
reservation due to the operating system limitation. As for Windows® 64-bit OS with 64-bit CPU,
there is no such limitation.
Graphics
Supports Intel® HD Graphics Built-in Visuals with processors which are GPU integrated
Graphics for H81M-GL supports Intel® HD Graphics Built-in Visuals : Intel® Quick Sync
Video with AVC, MVC (S3D) and MPEG-2 Full HW Encode1, Intel® InTru™ 3D, Intel® Clear
Video HD Technology, Intel® Insider™, Intel® HD Graphics 4400/4600. It uses pixel shader 5.0
and directX 11.1. The maximum shared memory is up to 1792MB and it supports
D-Sub with maximum resolution up to 1920x1200 @ 60Hz. However, Intel® HD Graphics Built-
in Visuals and the VGA outputs can be supported only with processors which are GPU
integrated. Intel® InTru™ 3D is only supported under Windows® 8 / 8 64-bit / 7 / 7 64-bit.
USB
2*USB 3.0, 8*USB 2.0 (4 front, 4 rear)
H81M-GL consists of several inputs which are 1*PS/2 Mouse Port, 1*PS/2 Keyboard
Port, 1*Serial Port: COM1, 1*Parallel Port (ECP/EPP support), 1*D-Sub Port, 4*USB 2.0
Ports, 2*USB 3.0 Ports, and 1*RJ-45 LAN Port with LED (ACT/LINK LED and SPEED
LED). There are differences between port USB 2.0 and USB 3.0. The transfer rates for USB 2.0
offers transfer rates of 480 Mbps, and USB 3.0 offers transfer rates of 4.8 Gbps — 10 times
faster. As for power consumption, USB 2.0 provides up to 500 mA whereas USB 3.0 provides up
to 900 mA. The USB 3 devices provide more power when needed and conserve power when the
device is connected but idling. Instead of one-way communication, USB 3.0 uses two
unidirectional data paths, one to receive data and the other to transmit while USB 2.0 can only
handle only one direction of data at any time. Instead of that, as for the line in, front speaker and
microphone, it uses HD Audio Jack.
