Delivering Nutritionally Balanced Groceries for Vulnerable Older Residents
On April 1st, CHCA staff carried out anti-COVID-19 measures at an IDP settlement in the village of Akhalsopeli, and distributed groceries to the vulnerable families living there.
Nine IDP families from Abkhazia live in this IDP collective center, and their main source of income is Social Assistance or IDP Assistance. CHCA staff disinfected the courtyard, corridors, porches, and basements of the building with disinfectants and provided the IDP residents with products to sanitize common areas.
Members CBOs have been highly involved in the fight against COVID-19. CHCA has been coordinating with community leaders to ensure all community issues have been accounted for, such as pandemic-vulnerable people, elderly residents, sanitation conditions and procedures, and water supplies. With the support of the British Embassy in Georgia, CHCA will continue to assist anti-pandemic measures for an additional two weeks.

CHCA Provides Nutritionally Balanced Groceriesfor the Elderly მCHCA has provided the parcels of basic necessities of nutritionally balanced groceries for lonely elder residents who are socially vulnerable and are in IDP collective centers.
CHCA Trains IDP Community Leaders and Supplies Sanitation Products
Leaders of IDP collective centers have participated in individual information sessions to educate them in the technical requirements and recommendations of sanitation products. After the sessions, CHCA staff provided community leaders with sanitation products including disinfectant solutions, transparent asks, soap, sanitation product dispensers, disinfectant sprays, disinfectant-quality chlorine, washing powder and sponges, as well as pamphlets and stickers for distribution n collective centers.
CHCA Disinfects Collective Centers
In Zugdidi, shared use areas in collective centers, including entrancesto buildings, restrooms, stairways, and hallways, are cleaned with special disinfectants. Hand sanitizer dispensers have also been installed in the lobby and hallways of the buildings to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

UNDP and CHCA Launch a New Health Project for IDPs Living in Collective Centers
A new project plans to take measures against COVID-19 in Shida Kartli, Imereti, and Samegrelo within 100 IDP Collective Centers.
This project will directly support IDP health during the pandemic, and will provide seminars, meetings, and media advocacy campaigns.
Irakli Kochua, Project Coordinator: “We have selected 100 IDP Collective Centers located in Samegrelo, Imereti, and Shida Kartli. In May, we will conduct disinfection measures for all of these collective centers and distribute sanitation products to clean the common areas. The project also will run awareness campaigns at each center, train community leaders, and distribute printed materials.”
