Leviticus 11:44 says, “Consecrate yourselves therefore and be holy for I am holy.”
In 1 Peter 1:16, Peter is talking to the Chosen People about the joys of Messiah, and he refers to Leviticus
11:44, “Be ye holy for I am holy.” What is God saying when he asks us to be holy? Can we
be holy as God is holy? Let’s look first at the word consecrate. It means to set apart or devote yourselves to the service of God, to make a commitment to serve the Lord with all your heart soul
and mind. After this we must ensure our relationship with the Lord is similar to that of Abraham and David. The Bible says in three places (2 Chr. 20:7, Is. 41: 8, and James 2:23) that Abraham was called a friend of God; First Samuel 13:14 tells us that David was a man after God’s own heart (1
Sam 13:14). As your relationship with the Lord increases, so will your
holiness. We cannot be perfect, but we can be holy.

This Week’s Parashah Readings
A Parashah is a designated portion of the Tanakh (Torah, Writings and
Prophets) that is read during the week by the people of the Jewish faith.
As Christians and Messianic Believers, we also read from the Haftarah
as well as the Brit Hadashah (2nd Testament) to maintain the continuity
of the commandments.
