Construction on the Habitat house is
scheduled to begin this Saturday, April 13. It
was postponed last Saturday due to muddy
ground at the site.
A crew of six volunteers from Bethany
have agreed to help this week: Phil Gray, Nick
Crews, Steve Fate, Bettye Jackson, Alice Jane
and Don Lanier. We'll need others in the week-
ends ahead, so check your calendar and then
sign up for the time you can help. There is a
sign-up sheet on the church bulletin board, or
you can call Alice Jane at 918-299-0699.
With the weather being so unpredict-
able, there is another number to call (918-280-
7125) a few days in advance to see if construc-
tion will be underway that weekend.

Simple! Want to help? Let us know if you
can be "the adult in the room" next Tuesday or

Sign up at church, or call Alice Jane Lanier at

Disciples Women
Disciples Women will meet
on Saturday, April 13, at 10
a.m. Our study, on the
topic of "The Children”, will
be led by Myrna Jones. The scripture
from which our study has been taken is I
John 2:1-15, 29-3:10; 5:1-21. Our under-
standing of the lesson will be enhanced if
we study the scripture and biblical back-
ground before the presentation.
Hostesses for the April meeting will be
Tommie Kinyon and Jennae Mullins
Currently, we are selling tickets for the
April 20 breakfast fundraiser for Stone
Soup at Applebee’s at 47th and Yale.
PLEASE CONTACT MYRNA JONES IF YOU
WOULD LIKE TO PURCHASE TICKETS AND
ATTEND THIS IMPORTANT EVENT!
We also continue to collect clothing for a
women’s and children’s shelter, Day-Spring Villa.
DISCIPLES WOMEN is hav-
ing a drive to collect
women and children’s
clothing to help transform
the lives of women and
children in crisis. Because
of caring people like you, the DaySpring
Villa can continue its mission.
You may place your clothing do-
nation(s) in the bin by the front North
doors. This drive will be ongoing through-
out the months to come.

Tornado Haiku
Oklahoma! Where
the wind comes sweeping down the…
This is the story.
All afternoon fuel
floats from the Gulf and is warmed
by Sooner sunshine.
At dusk a cold front
sweeps into the state like a
match scraped on a shoe.
Radar screens ignite.
The lightning flare and thunder
rumbles in the night.
Winds swirl, rain pounds down,
icy marbles clatter against
sidewalks and shingles.
Just as the storm stops,
sirens fill brave hearts with a
fear too familiar.
How very lucky
Dorothy and Toto were
on their way to Oz.
The tornadoes here
seem more intent on ripping
apart homes and lives.
Crawling from closets
or climbing the cellar stairs,
survivors. . . this time.
Now street lights reflect
on wet streets; people reflect
on tonight’s escape.
