ApplicationforPhotoCityatCopenhagenPhotoFestivalJune7th-17th2018This applicationprocedure addresses artists andphotographerswhowish to be part ofthefestival’scentre,PhotoCity,duringCopenhagenPhotoFestivalthattakesplaceJune7th-17th2018.CopenhagenPhotoFestivaltakesplace11dayseachyearinJune.Atthefestivalyoucanexperience about 60 exhibitions in collaboration with around 55 exhibition sites inCopenhagen and southern Sweden. Furthermore it facilitates artist talks, workshops,seminarsetc.createdontheoccasionofthefestival.Eachyeararound250photographersandphoto-basedartistsareapartofthefestivalprogrammeandlastyear50.000visitedCopenhagenPhotoFestival.PhotoCity is curatedandorganisedbyCPF. It’s aunique centreof the festival,which isbasedatØsterbrolocatedaroundtheoldtransformerstation,Understationenandthebigarea outside called Gasværksgrunden. Photo City only exists during the festival period.ApplicantsshouldnotethatthespaceinPhotoCityisverylimited,andforthisreasonCPFhastobeveryselectiveabouttheexhibitedprojects.Itisarequirementthattheprojectasawholehasn’tbeenexhibitedinDenmarkbefore.The application is processed by CPF’s managerMaja Dyrehauge Gregersen and theprogramme committee, consisting of Charlotte Præstegaard Schwartz, a postdoctoralfellow,SørenPagter,headofphotojournalismstudiesattheDanishSchoolofMediaandJournalism,andJensErdmanRasmussen,independentcurator.CopenhagenPhotoFestivalofferstwoopencallsattwolocationsinPhotoCityGasværksgrundeninPhotoCity(outdoor-exhibition)

AsapplicanttoPhotoCityyoucanarrangeanoutdoor-exhibitioninourPhotoCity.Itisapossibilitytousebigformatsandexpressyourworkinadifferentwaywheretheartisticexperiencecollaborateswiththesurroundingenvironment.Pleasenoticethattheexhibitionwillbeplacedoutsideduringthewholefestivalperiodinspiteofanyweatherconditions.ThismeansyouhavetoconsidermaterialsthatareappropriatefortheDanishweather.

Theexhibitorisresponsibleforallcostlinkedtotheproduction.Wedoofferassistanceforsettingupandremovingtheexhibitionbecauseofthespecialcircumstancesthatcanbeinrelationto anoutdoor-exhibition.

Understationen

Understationenisaformertransformerstation.Understationenhasthreebigfloors,whicharecharacterizedbytheindustrialpast,andtheroomshaveasenseofroughness.Theroom,whichwillbeavailablefortheexhibitor,is50m2anddoesnothaveanydaylight.Atthemomenttherearestriplightsbutitispossiblefortheexhibitortoaddanotherlightsetting.Inadditiontotheroomthereisanannex,whichcouldbeusedtoavideo-orsoundinstallation.

Theexhibitorisresponsibleforallcostlinkedtotheproduction.

AnexhibitionspaceinPhotoCityatCopenhagenPhotoFestivalincludes:

1) Freeexhibitionspace.2) TargetedPRinrelationtothefestivalandbrandingonsocialmedia.3) The project becomes part of the printed material produced in relation to the

festival.4) Internationalnetworkingwith theotherexhibitors inPhotoCityandcounselling

fromthecuratorsfromCPFandcraftsmen.CPFwishestoconsidertheexhibitors inPhotoCityasambassadors forthe festival.Thisincludespromotionthroughanumberofactivities.Forexampleparticipationinavideoorpodcastinrelationtothefestival,invitationtoholdanartisttalkduringthefestivalandtodo a ‘weekly takeover’ on the festival’s Instagram profile after the festival. time,wekindlyasktheexhibitorstosharenewsaboutthefestival intheirownnetworkfor example via socialmedia. Thismay includenews about the openingparty, activitiesrelatedtothespecificexhibitionandotherrelevantmaterial.TherearesomegeneralconditionsrelatedtobeingpartofPhotoCity:

1) ThelocationofPhotoCitywillbepublishedassoonaspossible,andtheexhibitorswillbenotified.

2) Theexhibitorsareresponsiblefortransportoftheworkstoandfromthefestival,andforputtinguptheexhibitionandtakingitdownagain.Iftherequirementsisnot fulfilled Copenhagen Photo Festivalwill send a bill according to the costs itcause.

3) Itisrecommendedthatexhibitorsbringtheirowntools.4) ExhibitorswillbegivenaccesstoPhotoCityfromMondayonJune4th.at10o’clock.

Allworksshouldbetakendownagainby18o’clockonJune19th.CPFcannotstoreworkswhenthefestivalisover.

5) Unless otherwise agreed the above conditions also apply for foreign applicants.CPFcannotprovideaccommodationduringthefestival.

6) It isarequirement that theprojectasawholehasn’tbeenexhibited inDenmarkbefore.
