During the color and makeover session, identify guests and customers who are interested to know more about your business. If they ask questions on how you run your business, about the Company and Mary Kay Ash, then there's a possibility that they may become potential members of your team.
But before you invite them to become part of your team or to a team building appointment, make sure that they will enjoy their makeovers and they will fall in love with the products.
After the session, ask them for referrals and invite them to become hostesses of your next skin care or color classes. Briefly explain to them the Mary Kay Hostess program. If they agree to host your next class, then gradually show them how you work your Mary Kay business.

Make sure that you help them learn how to best use the color products that are right for them. Help them save time and money by choosing the appropriate color product.
If they are happy with the results of their makeovers, invite them as your models or as your next hostesses in the next color class.
Lastly, say thank you to all your customers and guests and send "thank you" notes or "I appreciate you" cards to those who participated in the Dream Beautiful contest and who purchased products from you.

• A good place to start is with your customers, especially when you see them in your skin care or color classes. You've already made a connection. They love the products and understand the process, so why not build upon that?
• Your Dream Beautiful model contestant is another potential team member who can join your team.
• Don't be afraid to ask. Many Independent Beauty Consultants are afraid to ask women if they're interested in the Mary Kay opportunity. If you don't ask someone to be on your team, you won't get an answer. It's important to ask your potential team members at the class while they are excited. Don't wait a few days because by then, the excitement has died down.
• Ask your hostess if she's ready to be part of your team. Have a one-on-one conversation with her. Let her add up your sales in the skin care class she hosted and divide it in half so she sees how much you could possibly earn. That's powerful to women. If she's not yet ready, then ask her to suggest potential new team members. You may consider offering her a special gift for every person she suggests who becomes a new team member.
• Your family members and friends make great potential team members as well. Who better knows how your Mary Kay business is enriching your life than them?
• Share your I-story with every woman you meet out there. As you share your story in Mary Kay, share Mary Kay Ash's dream of enriching women's lives. Women are inspired by her and how she started this Company. And what woman doesn't want to be enriched?
• Approach a busy woman with a full-time career and a stay-at-home mother. The busy woman may be ready for a new opportunity, and the mother may desire an identity beyond her family and an extra income for her family.
How do you approach a potential new team member?
• give her a sincere compliment and ask her if she's open to providing feedback on the Mary Kay opportunity. Assess her awareness level about Mary Kay and what appeals to her. Is it extra income? Financial freedom? Career? Recognition? Opportunity to enrich other lives? Learn a bit about her life, dreams and values. remember to share why she would be an assest and that you would love to have her on your team. Ask if she has a few minutes to hear more about the Mary Kay opportunity.
• To the woman who may be unsure if she has what it takes to start a Mary Kay business, remind her of her strengths, and say "You'll never know until you try, and you may always wonder!"

They were highly energized and inspired by stories of Mary Kay's top and seasoned leaders. Plus, they enjoyed the sights, sounds and taste of Vietnam.

Jesa Marild Aperocho, the Independent Mary Kay Beauty Consultant winner of 2013’s Mary Kay Asia pacific model search, recalls the contest's intense yet colorful moments, taking her to the beautiful world of makeup and cosmetics.
“The makeover session was competitive,” Marild vividly recalls as the most challenging part of the contest. “I saw how other Asian Beauty Consultants prepared for the event, like bringing their bags and trolleys full of makeup, while I just had a few eye and cheek colors and lipsticks on hand. I was worried that I would not be able to finish the makeover within the given time.”
Nevertheless, Marild recounts the model search as one of her life's most memorable experiences. Aside from the contest providing her first out-of-the-country trip, she truly enjoyed and learned a lot from the free makeup training by an international makeup artist. What even made the event sweeter was her model and friend Fatima Amor Saquilabon being named the New Face of Mary Kay Asia Pacific.
According to Marild, the model search further exposed her to the fascinating world of makeup and colors. Her appetite to become a great makeup artist has grown tremendously. She gained confidence in handling makeup brushes, mixing-and-matching foundations, and uncovering great color combinations. She realized to pursue this craft even more.
“After the model search, I was hired as a makeup artist for parties, corporate events, debuts and other beauty contests. Recently, I did the makeup of a female contestant for a local teen pageant in Davao and, fortunately, she won the title,” she beams with pride. “There’s one upcoming wedding event that I am so excited to do. It will be my first time to put makeup on a bride!”
But more than the gigs, the sales, and the income that she gets from her color bookings, Marild finds complete fulfillment when people, especially her customers, appreciate and love her work. “What a joy it is for me to see happy faces of my customers after I do their makeup. That’s truly priceless,” she states.
Another thing she values is the referrals she receives from her customers. “That’s how I acquire new customers and make my Mary Kay sales,” she says. “It flatters me when they say kind words about my work and recommend me to other people because I’m just building my name as a makeup artist.”
Asked on how she works on her craft, Marild explains, “I always make sure that my customers see what I do as a makeup artist. I show to them my portfolio – the before and after photos of my customers. And, of course, I do a makeup demonstration on their faces. They get to try Mary Kay products first hands. And that's how I get the job!”
Currently, Marild juggles her time playing different roles such as a makeup artist, a loving daughter to her mother Susan, a fulltime BS Accountancy student in University of Mindanao, and a part-time Mary Kay Independent Senior Beauty Consultant with Fatima as one of her team members.
Her priority right now is to finish her studies. “But one thing is for sure,” she exclaims, “I will never set aside my career as a makeup artist and an Independent Mary Kay Beauty Consultant. And it all started in dreaming beautiful wonders with Mary Kay!”
