Monogram license number (6D-1322) is only being used and marked in conjunction with the API
Monogram.
4.1 Marking Method
a. Body/cover/closure stamping shall be performed using a low-stress die-stamp, rounded
“V” or Dot Face type.
b. Each valve shall be provided with an austenitic stainless steel nameplate securely affixed
and so located that it is easily accessible.
c. The marking on the nameplate shall be visually legible.
4.2 Identification Markings
On valves whose size or shape limits the body markings, they may be omitted in the following
order:
a. manufacturer's name or trademark;
b. material;
c. rating;
d. size
For valves smaller than DN 50 (NPS 2), the nameplate can be attached to the valve with the
stainless steel wire. The nameplate and serial number may be omitted by client agreement.
*NOTE: The purchaser can specify requirements for the marking of valve components.

If the valve with one seat uni-directional and one seat bi-directional, the directions of both seats
shall be specified on a separate identification plate as illustrated in Appendix A: Figure 1. In
Figure 1, one symbol indicates the bi-directional seat and the other symbol indicates the uni-
directional seat.
4.3 API Monogram Record (API 6D)
Marking checklist for API 6D is being used to monitor the marking conformance as required by
API product specification. This record shall be maintained for a minimum of 10 years.
5 Marking Requirement of API Spec 16A

(Appendix G), Table 7 (Appendix H), Table 8 (Appendix I).
Equipment shall be stamped on the product with the product description code (PDC) or
alphanumeric code, followed by “ISO 13533” or “API 16A” and PTBMI API 16A licence
number (16A-0360).
5.1 Marking Method
a. Low-stress-area marking
Using of sharp “V” stamping for identification on low-stress areas (such as nameplate,
outside diameter of flanges, etc.).
b. High-stress-area marking
Using of dot, vibration or round “V” stamping for identification on high-stress areas.
Sharp “V” stamping is allowed in high-stress area only if subsequent stress-relieving is
performed to the component.

c. Weld metal overlays
When equipment has weld metal-overlaid ring grooves, the ring gasket type and number
shall be followed by “CRA” to designate a corrosion-resistant alloy or “SST” to designate
an austenitic stainless steel.
Notes:
a. All type 16B and 16BX hub connections shall be marked on the neck of the connection,
12mm (1/2 in) max from the required length of the neck.
b. All flanges shall be marked in accordance with ISO 10423.
c. If the ring groove is overlaid with corrosion-resistant material, the ring groove number
shall be followed with “CRA”.
5.2 Repair and Remanufacture Markings
Location of marking for metallic equipment which is repaired or remanufactured shall be in
accordance with Table 3 (Appendix D).
The following marking shall be added to the parts:
a. “RMFR” for remanufacture or “RPR” for repair.
b. Repairer’s /remanufacturer’s name or mark.
c. Date of repair or remanufacture (month & year).
Note: For repair and/or remanufacturer marking requirement, the “RMFR” for remanufacture or
“RPR” for repair shall be added adjacent to the API Monogram applied.
5.3 API Monogram Record (API 16A)
Marking checklist for API 16A is being used to monitor the marking conformance as required by
API product specification. This record shall be maintained for a minimum of 10 years.

6.2 Marking Method
a. Using of dot, vibration or round “V” stamping for identification on low-stress areas.
b. Conventional sharp V-stamping is acceptable in low-stress areas, such as OD of the
flange.
c. Sharp V-stamping is not permitted in the high-stress areas.
d. Nameplates are not required if the information is permanently marked on the body or
connector.
